Complete Description:

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer seeks a technical contractor to provide Senior Network Security and Firewall Consultant services. The objective of this procurement is to provide operational assistance and advise in the planning, design, implementation and securing of the DC Government networks. The Technical Consultant will also provide executive consultancy and design recommendations based on industry expertise in network security functional design and implementing secure technology solutions across enterprise and service provider networks.  The position includes occasional off hours (nights/weekends) planned tasks and unscheduled Tier3 support to the 24x7 NOC as needed both remotely and on-site. 

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•             Analysis, design, configuration and implementation of network intrusion infrastructure, content filtering, router ACL’s, network access control and firewalls throughout the network in security layer models.

•             Assist in requirements gathering related to implementation of security infrastructure technology solutions across enterprise and service provider networks.

•             Provide hands¬-on analysis and quality assurance for the DC Government’s network security engineering team, leveraging experience of large enterprise design and securing of complex technology solutions.

•             Configuration, Administration and documentation of firewall infrastructure.

•             Manage firewall deployments, rules migrations, and firewall administration.

•             Recommend, Plan and manage Firewall Deployments using Change Management.  

•             Provide advanced technical support on network firewall management projects and related security infrastructure

•             Provide technical support to agencies and other IT personnel relating to security implementation, standards compliance, vulnerability reduction, and strategic security planning.

•             Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network connectivity issues as well as advise on network security related issues.
