Complete Description:

Help us redesign the DC Public Schools website.

The DC.Gov web portal consists of over 100 District agency websites and provides District residents and businesses with online access to government services and information. Currently, OCTO is migrating all DC.Gov websites to its Drupal content management system. One site remains, the DC Public Schools site at dcps.dc.gov.

As part of the migration, OCTO is looking for a Web/Graphic Designer to provide his or her expertise to develop graphic elements and a responsive design for the DCPS site. While OCTO already employs a design for agency websites, this new design is expected to improve upon the existing Drupal design for agency websites and become a template for other agency websites. As part of its efforts to employ responsive design to DC.Gov, this DCPS design is expected  to be compatible for desktops, tablets, smart phones and other mobile devices.  This assignment is expected to last for 2-3 months.

The Web/Graphic Designer is expected to have an expert graphical and web design background and good technical knowledge of user Interface development tools. Must have proven experience in visualizing and designing responsive web sites with table-free and CSS controlled layouts. A portfolio of high-quality work should be submitted along with the application.

Note: OCTO will consider applicants who must work remotely.

Behavior Characteristics:

Excellent communication skills; able to articulate/present ideas in a clear and concise manner; able to work well with the team and independently. Able to work in an environment with changing priorities.
