The Programmer will provide experience and expertise in the conversion of legacy Birth and Death records into the new (Database Application Vital Events) DAVE Birth and Death record system.

Complete Description:

The Department of Health Bureau of Information Technology (DOH BIT) seeks a highly skilled resource in SQL Data Transformation Services (DTS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to perform the conversion of Birth and Death records from the client based systems to the Department’s new Vendor supported DAVE system.  The primary duties for this resource will be:

1.            Data Conversion

•             Execute processes to identify and reprocess any records that were recently updated after the record was converted into DAVE

•             Verify all records were applied into DAVE system

•             Clean and process any outstanding records

•             Execute processes to clean and split out mailing address information for record import into DAVE

•             Correct any issues found during new record process testing

•             Create MS Access Form(s) for Bureau of Health Statistics and Research (BHSR) staff to view information before the DAVE system goes live

•             Create automated jobs to apply records into source tables and upload into DAVE on a nightly basis

•             Data mapping between Vital Vision and DAVE as well as for various extracts.

2. Reporting database

•             Create data extract processes that will be used as inputs and integration points into both internal and external systems

•             Populate information into database

3. Operations

•             Create/Populate Disaster Recovery environment and database mirroring

•             Create documentation on all processes using Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) templates.

•             Test nightly jobs

•             Schedule nightly jobs within DAVE at Go-Live

•             Monitor systems via Microsoft Service Center Operations Monitoring (SCOM) for any downtime or performance issues.

•             Conduct source code promotions to the Staging environment.

4. Provide support for EVVE, STEVE, Fetal Deaths, Local Registrar and other Vital Records systems.

5. May work with Data warehouse team regarding birth and death data.

This engagement will consist of 37.5 hour work weeks and could include work during the evening or weekends during DAVE releases.  This position will report to BIT.
