• ABSA and Barclays are embarking on a journey to enhance and replace their current ETL and Data Warehouse environments. This will entail a new implementation of Informatica which will replace the current ETL toolsets such as Abinitio, Oracle Pure Extract and Oracle Warehouse Builder. The current data warehouses are built on Oracle and will be replaced with Teradata. The new data warehouse environment will be based on the new data model, data standards, data governance structure and operating model.
• As part of EFB application, there are 20 + different source systems which are essentially OLTP systems and feeding files in UNIX landing paths in EBCDIC file format. As part of phase 1, these files will be converted into ASCII file format through the DT layer. These ASCII files will then be picked by Informatica workflows to undergo initial level validations such as format, character length etc. This process will also identify delta (change) between previous and current files (Change data capture) to create a load file which will get loaded into a staging database (E-Layer in this case) and finally picked up from E layer by ETL process to load into either Extension Layer or Integrated data warehouse after applying transformations and business rules as part of phase 2.
