I implemented the installation of a virtual server solution from Virtual Iron after testing other company’s products like VM Ware, Parallels and Citrix Xen Server. I was responsible for connectivity to the university’s many remote sites over a channelized T3 on a Cisco 3640 to multiple T1’s, also WAN failover from a layer 2 100Mb fiber to an ATT T1 backup. I installed a network monitoring server with Whatsup Gold to send email and page alerts if any critical system went down including server services with custom VB scripts. I installed and monitored WAN / LAN bandwidth usage with PRTG traffic monitor software. I configured switches for VoIP telephones and servers. Instrumentation and Network Administrator for a trisonic blow down wind tunnel. Responsible for model instrumentation, design and assembly of custom system control circuits and network design and security. Configure Cisco routers, firewalls, and switches. I set up remote access so customers that are not at the facility can VPN in over the internet to a dedicated VLAN with Cisco VPN client using IPSec to access up to the minute data acquired in the wind tunnel. I also set up a private in house FTP network with Microsoft IIS so customers that are visiting the tunnel during testing can get data directly to their PC’s as it comes in from the test. I have also taken over the duties of the systems engineer that left 5 years ago.
