Responsibilities:

  • Work with vendors and automation staff - to deliver services on time with accurate configurations. Work with multi agency locations and call centers ensuring that all agencies have the highest level of customer service possible. Work with various vendors to upgrade hardware/software and bandwidth to resolve local and regional site issues, as well as create proposals for projects involving procurement of hardware, software and services, create purchase request forms, confirm planning and quotes for projects including network management and monitoring systems SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Cisco ACS, Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, routers, switches, interface cards, Opteman, and T1 circuits
  • Work with customers to identify business needs - for current and future growth, work closely within the agency guidelines for governance acceptance. Work with Texas Department of Information Resources as well as HHSC IT staff to ensure priorities are met on all projects, ensuring that the correct SME (subject matter expert) is on hand for each phase of planning and implementation of projects. Continue to work with multiple agencies, vendors, customers and projects, like TIERS, Remedy ITSM, Cloud Services, Telecom upgrade, Enterprise DLP, LOI, Cross Park Wireless, Winters Network upgrade, AT&T Opteman / Time Warner Telecom NLAN upgrades and many others.
  • Work with minimal supervision - using knowledge of current infrastructure designs, regional network configuration as well as the WAN architecture to make decisions on projects and ongoing issues concerning the WAN and local network. Continue to evaluate networks for possible enhancements and future bandwidth growth. Develop and distribute project workloads to local and regional staff. Continually seeking innovative ways to enhance current processes with cutting edge tools and trends to proactively identify issues and to better develop the network in a more robust and flexible manner.
  • Configure and manage Orion SolarWinds 10.4 - monitor over 500 nodes with SolarWinds supporting the majority of HHSC Regional TIERS locations. Import and manage configurations files, backup and store configuration files for currently support sites including switches.
  • Configure and manage Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x - monitor and control wireless and wired hardware via Prime, including wireless deployment utilizing Prime wireless planning software with imported maps, Wireless LAN Controller and AP management via prime templates, push Cisco IOS updates and configuration backups for wired and wireless hardware.
  • Configure and manage Cisco Mobility Service Engine (MSE) 8.x - deployed MSE as an addition to Cisco Prime, MSE provides wireless client location information as well as IPS support for local wireless network.
  • Configure and manage Cisco Access Control Server (ACS) 5.x - deployed ACS primarily for wireless client AD authentication, additional deployments included Confidential for hardware support, second and tertiary ACS instance for redundant failover and high availability during software updates.
