Front Office Delta One Equity Development Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Development manager responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of a global development team of 15 employees and consultants responsible for delivering systems to our Global Prime Finance trading desks in New York and London. I am located on the trading floor to respond to immediate support issues and to foster a strong working relationship with our traders and middle-office support staff. Work with senior business management and IT management to develop plans for both tactical and strategic development for our Equities Pricing and Trading Platform.
  • The global development team is divided in four smaller teams, two front office teams in both New York and in London, a team responsible for an inventory management system, and a team responsible for a global data platform. As manager of four teams, I oversee the specifications, maintenance, and roadmap for our applications. I make architectural design decisions and manage code reviews across the group.
  • The New York front office development team develops and maintains small and medium-scale applications that are designed to automate workflows, reduce manual risk, provide analytics for, and drive revenue for a set of trading desks. Primary business partners include Synthetic Index Trading, ETF Market Making, Index Arbitrage (Inventory Trading and High-Frequency Trading), LATAM Synthetic Trading, Program Trading Sales, Single-Stock Swaps, and Securities Lending. Programs are designed to be interactive using MS Office or batch-based or on-line in a Unix environment. Major deliverables include the following:
  • An analytical program that consumes dividend projection data points from Markit and projects them forward across options expiry dates up to 20 years in the future using index compositions.
  • A fully automated locate management tool to allows trading desk to automatically or manually request security lending locates from our Security Lending desk and track what has been located throughout the day.
  • A suite of desktop and batch applications to allow the Synthetic Index Trading desk to manage its Custom Index portfolio that includes the ability to create, price, trade, and manage corporate actions in their portfolio of custom indices.

  • The inventory management system team is responsible for a system named Delta1 Trader, a three tiered application used by the Synthetic Index Trading desk to analyze and maintain their index and ETF based synthetic equity positions. Products supported include Equity Swaps single stock and index), Index Futures, Index Options, ETF, and Dividend Swaps. Complex trade types include creation and redemption of hard-to-borrow ETFs, rolls, and combos.

  • Ownership of an Index-Arbitrage, ETF, and Index Trading platform which allows desks to automatically trade and synthetically price index swap hedges and ETF creation/redemption baskets. This system is developed in Moscow and deployed in New York.
