As a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer, Confidential is a key member of the Technology Services department. Current primary responsibilities include the confidential Network using TCP/IP, SNA and OSA-Express Enterprise Extender for connections across three confidential's. Provided on-site z/OS 1.13 operating system technical support and expertise to the Operating Systems Support team, Confidential Mainframe 1 branch at the confidential in Mechanicsburg, PA. Her objective is to provide near-uninterrupted system availability to end users of the operating system and application software. In doing this, her duties include direct customer contact to pinpoint and identify technical issues; research of these issues to find a vendor-supplied resolution, or to create a resolution for the vendor when necessary; applying the resolution to the system. Vendor-supplied software installation, upgrades, routine maintenance and performance tuning are ongoing. She also debugs, re-writes and writes Assembler language programs and exit routines as needed to obtain her objective. She also writes and supports Clist and Rexx Exec’s as needed to support the Customers’ requests. She receives, analyzes and resolves various complex problem tickets opened by the DECC-Mech help desk. She supports all Shareware supporting Tools used both by the Technical Staff, and the Customers. This includes all Programs, Edit Macros, Clists, and Rexx Execs. XMITIP shareware tool is used extensively to FTP emails from the Mainframe using batch and ISPF interfaces.

Confidential was responsible for the installation, maintenance and customization of a wide variety of OEM software. SMP/E was used as the installation vehicle. Computer Associates products include CA-Dispatch (using IDMS as the database), CA-Endevor, Automate, CA-1, 7 & 11 as the scheduling package and ACF2 for security. Other software packages include FDR and tape silo software for two vendors: Memorex’s LMS and StorageTek’s SLS0. She was also the primary technical support of the offsite Disaster Recovery System.

Acting Data Center Manager/First Shift Supervisor

Responsibilities:

Confidential was responsible for the first shift Data Center Operations, supervising a staff of 12 people in five areas. This included ensuring an efficiently run data center and that problem recognition and resolution were expedited, planning of the weekend schedule, 24x7 on-call and rotation of Weekend Manager support. She shared the responsibility with the Technical Support group by installing various software packages and exploiting the software’s capabilities. The Parallel SysPlex environment included multiple processors including an Confidential 9021-982 bi-polar, an Amdahl bi-polar and multiple Confidential 9672 CMOS processors (-R74, -R84, RX3 models) communicating through dual 9674 coupling facilities. DB2 and CICS drove the 80-region pharmacy systems. The midrange systems included two Hewlett-Packards, a Stratus R330 and multiple Confidential AS/400 machines.

Confidential was responsible for providing non-application program error recovery support of all production batch processing 24 hours of the day. First line Technical Support of OEM software packages included CA-1, 7 and 11, U/ACR, Info/PAC, Info/Sys and the StorageTek tape silo software. A member of the Automated Operations Project team, she planned, implemented and continuously enhanced automated operations.
