OBJECTIVE
Seeking for a position to utilize my skills and abilities in Computer Engineering and to have a professional growth while being resourceful, innovative and flexible
EDUCATION
- Master of Science in Engineering
Major: Computer Engineering - Bachelor of Engineering
Major: Electronics and Communications
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
RESEARCH ASSISTANT, Professor- Weidong Xiang
- Working on a project for DOE on smart grid radio. The objective of this project is to develop a Real Time FPGA based Smart Grid Radio with IEEE 802.15.4g standard (Zigbee). Completed implementing physical layer on FPGA device using Quartrus II.
- Working on a project for Universal Grid works. This is for a proposed system at 2010 GITT(Grid Interaction Tech Team) Demo. I have worked on the communications part of transmitting instantaneous power over Smart energy network. PSoc Board is used to measure instantaneous power from the pulse coming out of the DB5467U Meter IC evaluation Board. Then Digi XB24 with smart energy router is used to transmit the power to ConnectPort X2 SE Gateway and then display it on computer using Smart energy messages.
- Worked on a project with Ted Bohn, Argonne National Laboratories to Transmit power values and other information from an Itron meter to other devices in the smart energy network.
SKILLS
Programming Languages: C, C++, C#, Pearl,Java, Oracle, PIC Microcontroller Programming, VHDL, Verilog, system verilog
Application Software: Labview, Matlab/Simulink, Tanner tools, SPICE, Quartus II (Altera), Xilinx Design Suite, ModelSim, Synopsis design compiler, Prime time.
PROJECTS
PHOTO DISPLAYER
- Developed an application using Terasic LCD Touch Module (LTM) to display photos which would change with a touch
- Used 3c16 FPGA on Altera cyclone III DE0 board to provide all control and timing signals to LTM.
- Programmed the FPGA using VHDL i.e. developed a driver to connect it to LTM
- Stored the photos in a Flash which is in built on a DE0 board.
ETHERNET MAC LAYER
- Programmed EP3c120 FPGA on Altera Cyclone III DE2 board to generate a MAC frame.
- This design includes Verilog programs to generate IP Checksum, UDP checksum and Frame check sequence.
RS232 DRIVER
- VHDL program for receiving and transmitting data over a RS232 port. Tested it on Altera DE2 and DE0 FPGA Boards.
DESIGN AND OPTIMZATION OF SRAM FOR LOW POWER
- Designed 16 X8 SRAM in L-Edit software
- Optimized it by modifying the design to save power when cells are in sleep state
- Layouts were integrated into a pad frame and then simulated
CHIP LEVEL LAYOUT DESIGN FOR ALU AND REGISTER FILE USING TANNER TOOLS
- Designed a 8 Bit ALU and 8 Bit Register File in S-Edit with logic gates.
- Exported the designs to L-Edit and integrated the layouts with a pad frames
- The two designs have been sent by Professor Ali Elkateeb to MOSIS for chip Fabrication
COMPUTER NETWORK PROJECTS
- Used Matlab programming for designing a Routing protocol for optimum message forward path with minimal hops between moving vehicles
- Realized a simple data link layer in Matlab. Connected two computers using RS232 and transmitted data between
them and checked for error using CRC
PICKIT2 PROJECT
- Worked with professor Natrajan Narasimhamurthi on PIC16F690 to control a DC motor.
DSP PROJECTS
- Used Matlab programming for designing SD-ROM Filtering algorithm to filter noise from a corrupted signal, Linear predictive code to compress audio signal, Digital filter ,Embedding secret audio messages in image files .
DATABASE PROJECT FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY LIBRARY
- Designed ER model that gives the conceptual design of the operations of a local library
- Used MySQL Query Browser to query and analyze data stored within MySQL database
LANGUAGE TRANSLATOR AND VOICE DICTIONARY PROJECT USING
- A sentence in any language could be translated into English. And its Meaning and voice could be obtained and stored in the local database. Used Software Architecture patterns to solve the problem
- I have used online translation engine- google translator.
