Infrastructure Architect & Manager, DBA Manager, and Systems Architect and Integrator. I began to support Alpheus Communications, formerly El Paso Global Networks as it had begun to financially (but not technologically) be divested from El Paso Energy. I was of a select trio of master skilled individuals that began to dually support between 2004 and 2006 both El Paso Global Networks and the El Paso Global Markets/Merchant Energy and Trading Operations groups.
I supported and managed the operations for the infrastructure, database, applications, and the development, as the spin-off and division of operations and infrastructure from the parent company occurred and by 2006 launched a completely separate IT infrastructure and IT environment. My duties include, but are not limited to:
- I was responsible for the management, coordination, design, development, implementation, monitoring, and support of numerous projects for the infrastructure, system, and database architectures, including determinations on the existing and new environments. I was integral for the planning, management, and architecture for the Alpheus IT separation from El Paso, beginning with the separation of financial systems and specifically the system ERP conversion from El Paso\'s Peoplesoft system to Alpheus\' new Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains financial system. These responsibilities extended to the launch of the new Alpheus/Zipline Corporation data center and IT infrastructure environment.
- As the IT Infrastructure Manager/Consultant, my primary responsibilities are for the worldwide wide area network, local area networks, personal computers and other information technology infrastructure components. Provide global indirect supervision and technology guidance to all staff members who are supporting the company\'s WAN, LAN, and server infrastructure. Other duties include technology evaluation and improvement projects and managing the relationship with key vendors. Responsibilities included Server Support, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning/Testing, Systems Management, and Server Operations for Houston, Dallas, Austin, and other Texas field sites.
- Participated in all phases of the design, implementation, and support for transfer of data center facilities from within the El Paso infrastructure to the current data center site. Planning included facilities evaluation and evaluation of power, HVAC, UPS, cabinets, network planning, DNS separation, Multiple Exchange implementations, VPN, redundant network infrastructure, and transfer switch. I am also responsible for subsequent upgrades to the network and Exchange environment, providing detailed scope and analysis of dependencies and reengineering.
- Responsible for the hands-on project management and overall responsibility for IT initiatives, including Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity planning and implementation, application development, Microsoft Dynamics ERP management and implementations, and Infrastructure, including security, backups, and email.
- My duties included but were not limited to System and Database Architecture, technical project and team lead, database development and application database administration, providing web development, batch process administration, database server administration, report server administration, and web server administration. Systems and project progressions included, but were not limited to both and/or design to build to production support development and leading JSP and .Net web based teams for MACCS, SAMMEX, QUOTES, systems which were contracts and order and circuit management systems and building interfaces for the TIBCO systems middleware integrations.
- Lead the design and implementation of one of our two major network monitoring systems which supports the network operations center (NOC) to help them manage and be in charge of monitoring and maintaining the customer network via alerts and web portals, including the implementation and upgrades of the Solarwinds Network Infrastructure monitoring for both the Production Texas Fiber network and in addition for the internal corporate network, to automate routine maintenance and diagnostic procedures. The implementation was instrumental in improving network reliability and customer satisfaction ratings. This included defining alarm thresholds, escalation procedures, and automation routines.
- Managed and implemented multi-site Disaster Recovery implementation infrastructure, email continuity, application systems, and databases project for data centers in Houston and Austin. Designed high availability solutions processes and procedures for DR testing and developed DR levels of action. Including, but not limited to supporting 24x7 NOC.
- In addition, I proactively develop as an ongoing process a technology strategic roadmap to accommodate the growth of the company, evaluating existing systems and new technologies, identifying and resolving issues by providing innovative business and technological solutions using a wide assortment of diverse technologies. - At El Paso Energy Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, I was responsible for the designing, developing, implementing, monitoring, and support of numerous projects for both the system and database architecture for multiple internal companies including Merchant Energy and Global Networks, and multiple user groups including Contract Administration, Credit, and their telecom Billing and Order Entry group.
- Managed support for high visibility Global Markets trade floor environment, including design and implementation of end user and system support, 24-hour coverage, high severity escalation, and technology recommendations. . I co-designed and lead the backend architecture and development of the contract and counterparty management system (MACCS) and created and managed a complex commodity trading and contracts system, including, but not limited to trading of oil, gas, natural gas and even power, and facilitated commodity trades for various durations from spot to evergreen to paper transactions and futures. I managed a combination of two teams of developers that hit at one point 25 developers on 3 simultaneous projects (and a was a co-project lead of approximately 45 developers, including pm, analyst, etc), the system was developed to manage counterparty, contact, office, and contract information. Technically, the design feature dynamically generated database audits and pseudo-table partitioning (designed to emulate Oracle processes since SQL Server does not support true partitioning), function overload and process management stored procedures, and a publication-subscription architecture system for TIBCO. The applications also leveraged Moody\'s, S& P, and Fitch as well as Platt\'s pricing feeds for credit and analytical management. The system was later engineered and deployed for Global Networks. (EPGN_MACCS)
- I lead, designed, and developed the backend architecture for:
- Risk Management Downstream Global Security. The system was developed to manage user, object, group, role, and data security across multiple systems in multiple development environments and in addition, technically, the design featured extended stored procedure encryption routines and was a database architecture that was extended by .Net messaging. This platform was later extended for the El Paso Corporate .NET Standards and Security Framework architecture.
- Tibtrace which manages publications and subscriptions and cross references across the entire Merchant Energy application group. It also included, unexpectedly, Oracle database performance tuning analysis and solutions for one of the sponsoring development systems.
- Common Codes which managed tables and relationships dynamically and was a repository for managing common system information as a code foundation.
- I inherited the Credit Source and the third party CCM (Corporate Credit Manager) applications which I eventually lead, designed, and developed the database architecture and system rearchitecture from an NT 4.0-PowerBuilder/BCP/SQR-SQL Server 6.5 system to an AppWorx managed batch processing system integrated with SQL Server, Oracle, and Peoplesoft (via flat files) environments on SQL Server 2000.
- Technical lead and co-designer of the SAMMEX database architecture. The system functionally manages Service Orders and Circuit Orders on an ASP.NET front end. The backend, on SQL Server, features dynamic columnar and circuit based audits and audit extraction/reporting.
