CMS is a prestigious state of the art technology implementation for Advance Auto Parts in the quest for improved pricing, inventory, warehouse and supply chain management. This system contains very tight SLA’s for system processes and live interfaces to handle time sensitive business processes.

This prestigious implementation with a net worth of over 100 million USD included the implementation of Oracle Applications-Oracle Retail 13.x (ORMS, ORPM, ORESA, ALLOCATIONS, RIB, and REIM) and consolidation of several enterprise wide systems. This allows the AAP management to have up to date information on financial activity, sales activity, inventory status across the corporation to make strategic decisions especially pricing across the board. The ROI is projected to be in less than 13 months.

My responsibilities include

• Installing and Configuring Oracle Retail 13.x
• Meeting of all the SLA’s set for the system to meet business standards
• Leading the performance testing team and ensuring the load testing of the application including the modules(ORMS,ORPM,RESA,REIM,ALLOCATIONS,RIB) is completed in time for Go Live
• Handling Severity -1 issues on database servers, application servers and providing production support
• Handling core performance issues with business process, with the database, overall infrastructure and optimizing the application design as required to meet the SLA’s
• Redesigning processes and procedures to meet SLA’s to cut down batch processing times to 2 hours from 11 hours
• Designing the high availability for all Oracle databases (ranging from 300GB to 5 TB) and Application servers and provided failover procedures using replication and clustering techniques
• Capacity planning for Oracle implementations
• Performance tuning of conversion and cut over activities to complete in 18 hours from a scheduled 72 hours
• Performance tuning of batch programs(PL/SQL,PRO*C), Oracle forms in ORMS,ORPM to meet the SLA’s
• Going Live as per schedule with all the critical business process completely tested for performance with 150% volume, SLA’s met and signed off by business.
• Documenting the detailed results of the performance test for each component complete with artifacts such as metrics from monitoring of infrastructure
• Coordinating and propagating the changes proposed as the result of optimization of various components including Database, Servers, SAN, Network and Application code through Change control process.

NJKiDS is a prestigious and highly successful state wide implementation of the Child Support System implemented by the NJ state. NJKiDS is a stateless J2EE /Oracle based financials system with a strict SLA of 2 second response times for online transactions. Instrumental in the design of the performance framework that met the strict 2 seconds SLA’s for all online transactions and a state less services based architecture. The system also included the conversion of the data from a 25 year old mainframe system to a temporal Oracle RDBMS based financial system.

My responsibilities included

• Handled all the coordination with the NJ State Infrastructure Team (EBSU) for all the activities such as Infrastructure setup, application Deployment, Configuration management and troubleshooting Database issues and production support.
• Participating in design meetings to gather requirements for implementation and documenting solution design for the implementation. Coordinating IV&V group audits as part of State and Federal requirements.
• Installing and setting up system software such as Oracle 10g RAC, Data guard for failover, Autosys, SAS and other application tools. Used GPFS as parallel file system for RAC storage using IBM DS-48000 SAN storage solution.
• Setting up Oracle 10g Streams for high speed replication of data for reporting purposes. Designed and developed automated scripts for monitoring staging message queues and propagating queues
• Installing and Setting up development, testing, qa, training and sandbox databases to handle the various phases of the implementation.

• Supporting the conversion of data from Bull Mainframe to the temporal Oracle Database design (NJKiDS). Scripting the conversion routines using a built in scheduler.
• Designing the performance framework that was utilized to perform application code reviews, optimize the application design, reconfigure tables and utilize the hardware effectively to meet the strict 2 second SLA’s. Optimized batch programs iteratively to meet the batch window.
