Responsibilities:

  • Identify all Oracle databases, document every database along with the server information, and prepare documents related to every activity done on the database including database jobs, cron jobs set up on operating system.
  • Prepare backup scripts and set up jobs for various kinds of backups.
  • Migration of database from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g.
  • Extract data as a logical backup from the production database and import it into the data warehouse.

  • Data from Metrica database is imported into Oracle database; the database adds about 3TB every quarter. The tables did not have any retention policies which was setup per table. Most of the tables were not partitioned which was done based on the data (range/hash, range-hash). Scripts were written to automate the creation and removal of partitions based on a table’s retention policy. Accordingly, global indexes were created using Oracle Partitioning.
