DETAILS OF THE PROJECT WORKED
- The environment is multi RDBMS environment with major percentage being Oracle .Sybase and MS SQL Servers being the other RDBMS.The environment is quite complex one with Dataguard,Real Application Clusters, Oracle Streams, Sybase Replication,MS SQL Server Logshipping,MS SQL Data mirroring .
- One of key task of the project is management of the databases and also troubleshooting the issues which come up in the databases in minimum period of time ensuring no down or minimum down time.
- The project also expects us to cater to the needs of the customers by continuously keeping track of their requirements and in case of emergencies quickly help them out. Below are some of the major accomplishments:
- Datawarehouse consolidation: The purpose of the project was to consolidate different Datawarehouses on to one Warehouse. We also achieved to move off the databases from AIX to Linux as a part of this exercise. We used Golden Gate for this project to achieve zero downtime migration.
- Migration of database from Non RAC to RAC: The purpose of the project was to migrate Non RAC database to RAC database. This was achieved by setting up dataguard from Non RAC to RAC database. Then performing cutover from Non RAC to RAC database.
- Golden Gate implementation: Implemented Golden Gate from Oracle to Oracle,Oracle to Sybase,Oracle to AS400 and Oracle to JMS queue.
- Duplicating database through RMAN: The purpose of duplicating database in this particular project was to recover tablespace to point in time. This was achieved by creating auxiliary instance as of the required point in time and then doing export-import of that particular tablespace.
- Duplicating RAC Database: Duplicated RAC Database to standalone database and performed Database point in time Recovery.
- CPU Patching: The Purpose of the project was to patch all 9.2.0.8 and 10.1.0.5 instances in the environment.
- PSU Patching: Purpose of this project was to apply PSU Patch for all 10.2.0.4 RAC and Non RAC databases.
- Upgrade database to 11G: The purpose of this project was to upgrade database to 11G.The same was achieved by using DBUA.
- Install 11GR2 RAC Grid Infrastructure: Installed 11GR2 Grid Infrstructure .Installed ACFS.
- Sizing of database: The purpose of the project was to size various files of database like redo, undo, temp .
- This project also involved evolving an effective strategy for efficient usage of space for SYSAUX tablespace.Space recommendations to user tablespace were made by using Segment advisor.
