PeopleSoft HCM Technical Consultant

Responsibilities:

  • Worked closely with Testing Lead on test plans for the different phases (unit, integration, system & acceptance).
  • Developed multiple Core HR & P/R AppEngine programs to stage and cleanse the data and then to load into PeopleSoft using Component Interface.
  • Built chunking process where one AppEngine spawns up to 40 clones to process sections of data to speed performance.
  • Directly responsible for building conversions for configuration setup components like Jobcode, Departments & Salary Plan/Grade/Step, Tax and multiple transactional components.
  • My main focus was on Job data. There were many issues with the Job stack that had to be resolved programmatically (missing hire rows, rehires without term rows, etc.). Complex algorithms were required to handle several issues including the need to insert missing hire rows and setting the correct employee record number to ensure separation between employees, contingent workers, retirees receiving medical benefits and retirees receiving pensions.
  • Multiple cross walk tables were built to allow the code to translate old values to newly established values.
  • Worked closely with functional leads from Core HR, Payroll, Compensation and Benefits Administration to correct mapping issues, ensure documentation was kept up to date and to agree on creative ways to resolve complex issues.

Confidential, Boca Raton, FL

PeopleSoft Financials (FSCM) Technical Lead Consultant

Responsibilities:

  • This was a PeopleSoft FSCM upgrade from version 8.4 to 9.1 (PeopleTools 8.52). This was a reimplementation/upgrade for GL, AP, PO, ePRO, AM, AR/Billing and PC. There was a major Chart of Accounts design change that will invalidate some historical transactional data and force a reimplementation.
  • Worked with the functional leads using Setup Manager, we mapped how we would get setup and master data into the system. We determined what data would be keyed into our initial configuration, what tables would be converted using either Data Mover Scripts (DMS), Excel to CI tool, or converted using App Engine calls to Component Interface (CI).
  • Created and executed multiple Excel to CI conversion layouts and DMS conversion scripts.
  • Ensured that PeopleSoft installed products were working correctly, including nVision, XML Publisher, report repository, etc.
  • Sat in on Fit Gap sessions and on Interactive Design and Prototype (IDP) sessions.
  • Worked with functional lead to alter the Chart of Accounts (COA) using Chart field configurator. Tracked down several issues as this tool alters the structure of multiple tables and other objects.
  • Configured Integration Broker to get the Voucher Upload spreadsheet to work for a proof of concept in an IDP session.
  • Analysis determined that a double hop upgrade was not necessary as only limited transactional tables would be needed to be upgraded. The structure changes caused by the COA change forced a re-implementation.
  • The upgrade would have been from a client installed MS SQL Server FSCM to a CedarCrestone hosted Oracle 9.1 install (Tools version from 8.4 to 8.52).
  • Used my FCS SQR Scanner to analyze all SQR’s in the system to determine record and field access.
  • This data is stored in custom tables and produces reports of what upgrade work is needed on all programs. This system also makes it easy to determine where hard coding exists and is used as a productivity tool to find examples of programs with specific SQL scenarios.

Sr. Principal Consultant PeopleSoft Campus/ HCM/ FSCM

Responsibilities:

  • Working at the home office on PeopleSoft Financials version 9.1, Campus Solutions 9.0 & HCM 9.1 (Tools Version 8.51)
  • Developed Integrations between mobile apps and PeopleSoft Financials and Campus Solutions including all aspects of Integration Broker and development of the mobile apps that connect to self-service.
  • Initial Financials focus was on Integrating Travel & Expenses from PeopleSoft Finance to the mobile applications.
  • Initial Campus Solutions focus was on the Recruiting appointment calendar.
  • Initial HCM focus was on the view Paycheck and Pay Advice.
  • Developed new Web Service, Application Packages, Classes, Methods and Component Interfaces that gather and update PeopleSoft data. Testing XML message using Handler Tester prior to moving to mobile app side.
  • Developed Mobile Apps using PHP, XHTML & CSS.
  • Consulting at Embry Riddle Aeronautics University, Daytona Beach, FL.
  • This was an initial implementation of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions version 9.0 (Tools version 8.51) where I worked on all aspects of RICE (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions and Enhancements).
  • My concentration was on the Financial Aid, Student Financials & Student Records modules on this Cedar Crestone hosted environment. This was a combined consulting effort with Oracle, Cedar Crestone and independent consultants. All modules were implemented on time and under budget.
  • Designed and implemented multiple Financial Aid CEMLI enhancements. Two of the larger enhancements surround the unique way Aid is awarded and dispersed by Track rather than Term as they have Terms start each month grouped by varying numbers of months. Hundreds of objects were created to solve this need.
  • Assisted in the design and setup of Equations for FA Packaging and other FA processes.
  • Lead the effort to design an FTP system to handle all interface files flowing in and out of the University. Multiple programs and Unix Shell scripts were needed to accomplish this task. Worked closely with Cedar Crestone and all developers to implement solution that would fit all the unique needs for handling the files and cleanup.
  • Worked on several Conversions dealing with Financial Aid and Student Records data from the legacy Datatel system. Used complex AppEngines to process high volume components into manageable chunks.
  • The complexity of the unique Financial Aid Track design forced extensive analysis and modification to SQR, COBOL and DMS scripts to alter the way the delivered COBOL handles FA Term Build. Due to the pain involved in ever changing PeopleSoft COBOL, I designed a process to rewrite the COBOL code to combine all Copy/Call code together, place trace statements on each paragraph entry point and to display the actual SQL the program was about to execute. This made it much easier to read the source code and provide enhanced COBOL log files.
  • Designed and implemented other enhancements to the Student Records, Self Service and Student Financials modules.
  • Helped to set up initial development environment for other developers. Designed and implemented a Project Documentation process that extracts PeopleCode and SQL from a project, checks on and reports out individual object comments to ensure they are documented according to Technical Standards. It also allows the acts as the major portion to each Technical Design Document ( Confidential ).
  • Designed nVision and XML Publisher reports that give all the details needed to paste directly into the Confidential, saving developers many hours each week in avoiding duplication of effort.
  • Analyzed and used Phire Migration tool to migrate projects. In addition, I added a project analysis tool prior to importing into Phire. Due to the limited amount of databases available, we need to check the accuracy of the project prior to importing into Phire. This produces reports on missing objects and is a great aid on initial implementations where the customer users are new to both PeopleSoft and Phire.
