Managed the capacity and acquired hardware to migrate and consolidate applications from servers being retired to more advanced replacement servers. Negotiated with application owners, product owners, application developers, and users for the appropriate allocation of resources ensuring that the performance of the applications was considered, along with software licensing, while maintaining a tight control over the allocated resources, ensuring that the configurations were as cost effective as possible.
  • Determined the configuration of micro partitions, and how cpus would be allocated across partitions. Determined the use of processor pools, and whether the pools would be shared.
  • Analyzed the performance and capacity requirements of IBM Power Servers using the TeamQuest application, and AIX/UNIX tools to ensure appropriate allocation of resources. Developed IBM Power requirements for new applications, and decided whether to install the applications in the current environment or purchase new hardware.

  • Designed and built large AIX Platform as a Siebel Database Server for CIGNA Insurance. The platform consisted of two S80s running AIX 5.2 with HACMP connected to ESS Storage. All aspects of server were created including, but not limited to: filesystems, IO installation, tuning, maintenance, and backups.
  • Instrumental in producing written guidelines for high-availability architecture, customized software applications, and operating systems maintenance.

Data Center / disaster Recovery / data Migration
