Senior Vice President, Global IT, International Confidential
- I was recruited for this position based on my reputation as a successful Transportation Terminal IT Manager with experience working across the global marketplace. I provided strong, senior IT management to coordinate and guide ICTSI’s IT function in the corporate office and in their container terminals around the world. I reorganized the corporate and local IT departments to better service the needs of the respective staffs by instituting Project Management Controls and Policies to realize time and cost budget requirements. This transformed the corporate projects culture into a professional and accomplished team.
- I provided documented savings of one million dollars by discontinuing the company’s loss-making software subsidiary. I took this stand-alone decision because ICTSI had invested considerable time and money in a software product (a Container Terminal Operating System) which did not function properly, had no customers and competed with several software houses which produced good products.
- As the Driving Force of the project to provide state-of-the-art Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) I recommended and guided the implementation of the appropriate software from several vendors to provide up-to-date, customer-friendly and efficient systems capable of handling current and future emands of a dynamic industry. These systems currently function on four continents.
- I guided the implementation of the Hyperion Financial Modeling/Reporting System for all business units to provide corporate-wide financial reporting in a timely, complete, uniform and accurate manner. This replaced five ungainly, independent systems and coordinated inputs from SAP and ICAM (ERP) Systems.
- I initiated the implementation of a corporate-wide Wide Area Network (WAN) spanning four continents to provide secure and reliable communications for the company’s financial and private data.
IT Manager, Confidential
- Dubai Ports International - As the initial IT manager in a new organization I established the physical infrastructure (networking, computer hardware, computer spaces), selected and oversaw the implementation of the appropriate software packages, selected the local IT staff and interfaced these systems with the terminal operating staffs. This effort satisfied Dubai Ports’ rapidly expanding international operations with container terminals in Romania, Saudi Arabia, India (multiple sites) and Djibouti. Each site required automated systems including Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), Engineering Maintenance (planning, stores, purchasing and manpower reporting), Financial Accounting (GL, A/P. A/R, F/A and Payroll), site networking, and communications facilities as well as staff recruitment and development.
- Dubai Ports Authority - I built and managed a staff of 20 professionals to implement IT systems at two container terminals in Jebel Ali and Port Rashid, Dubai to facilitate DPA’s growth from a small container terminal to a multinational organization. To satisfy this need the systems implemented included the Navis Terminal Operating System (TOS), Maximo Engineering Maintenance, Oracle Financial Accounting as well as “in-house” development.
- I managed two data centers (40 kilometers apart) and networked them to provide guaranteed 24/7 uptime service for two port complexes to provide superior customer service and the on-going operations at the two terminals I also guided the use of Oracle DBMS as a corporate standard and became the organization’s first Oracle DBA. The operating systems included VMS and UNIX. Jebel Ali Terminal is currently one the busiest container operations in the world.
General Manager Confidential
- I established the regional office and staff to support Dun & Bradstreet Software (McCormack & Dodge financial systems) foothold in the Middle East to enhance the company’s functions in Saudi Arabia, Arabian Gulf States, Egypt and Turkey. Reporting to the Managing Director of UK operations, I was responsible for all activities of marketing, sales, and support in the Middle East. I managed client programs and support to build the business in new regions which doubled the revenue and number of client sites installed in the territory, and was recognized as one of company’s outstanding managers for these contributions.
- I performed consultancy service for the Confidential which had selected Dun & Bradstreet financial products. I guided the project to convert a full range of financial software to Arabic language systems. The systems chosen and implemented greatly enhanced the internal processes of the organization, bringing them into the modern era of computing.
