I was brought in as the first programmer and with no technical support and was allowed independence to set up their software and systems and manage their data. After completion of this contract company had grown to over 200 employees and was set to technically move forward with their NDA. I was also instrumental in building the complete data management department as well as writing SOP’s for the data management department.
- Install SAS on network. Supported SAS software system.
- Developed 100’s of analysis programs for NDA Phase I-III and ISS/ISE, using BASE SAS, SAS/MACROS, SAS/STAT, SAS/ACCESS, SAS/SQL, SAS/CONNECT, SAS/ODS and SAS GRAPH.
- Defined the need for data management to be located locally in house giving a presentation of why and how data management could be accomplished allowing ILEX the in house availability of their data and not using an outside contractor saving them money. Was then given the approval to move ahead with plan for data management.
- Designed data management department which included the overall flow-through of data, software used, hardware used, network used and personnel definitions and roles that individuals fill in a Biostatistics department.
- Was given complete management and creativity in this area which developed into a completely functional system from the data entry validation to the analysis of the data.
- Created a double data entry verification system and a case report form validation system called Edit Checks (data cleaning) to relinquish any discrepancies in the data located on the Case Report Forms.
- Aided in the design of case report forms. Designed automated Logic Check system(checking for outlier error data) which wrote SAS programs based on a driver file specifications.

- Using SAS/GRAPH, SAS/MACROS, SAS/AF, and BASE/SAS, updated existing programs, and created new graphs and reports. Programs were modified to create savings on CPU resources. Upgraded existing systems to provide print queue selection flexibility allowing anyone to print to his or her favorite closest printer.
- Provided SAS support for 40 Engineers and Statisticians. Installed and provided support in upgrade from SAS 6.06 to SAS 6.08. Aided the Help Desk in answering any SAS questions or issues for the complete FAB site in Chandler.
- Designed GUI interface system which incorporated all of the FAB6 SAS applications into one screening system. This was needed so all engineers, new hires and existing employees could easily locate all reporting and graphing analysis on the system. This was instrumental to the engineer management as many new programs were being written duplicating already pre-existing applications and this package would stop the duplication.
- Modified 100’s of programs and created hundreds more in SAS.
- Contract was originally for 3 months but was asked to stay and do more work and was given another consecutive contract for 6 months.
