PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Confidential, VA
IBM Sterling B2B Integrator Solutions Architect
Responsibilities:
- As a B2Bi specialist, worked with teh Mainframe Input and Output Gateway support personnel to understand teh current IO sub-system and create teh existing IO architecture diagrams. Created detailed process flow diagrams for teh file transmission through IIB, MQ and Axway and how teh current system processes teh files in batch mode and real time mode.
- Created teh architecture diagrams and detailed documentation to present to teh management and architecture team. Proposed a plan for migrating/developing teh IO sub system using current industry standard tools and technology e.g. Sterling B2Bi, IBM MQs and migrating teh existing backups to teh new system.
- Worked with teh EDI team to move teh existing custom XML to HIPPA EDI using X 12/834/835/837/270/271 etc. and functional acnoledgement 997 and other standard formats. Scrum and Kanban was used as teh project development methodology.
- When teh Claims Adjudication system was developed FEPOC using Mainframe, COBOL, ESB and MQs, it was a fully custom development and many custom EDI data formats were used to communicate between teh claims engine and teh peripheral subsystem. In 1995, an experimental HIPAA gateway was developed. But teh original data format which were used in teh claims adjudication system was huge Superset of 837, so in teh custom solution, teh transaction sets e.g. 837 was wrapped in a custom XML format which handled teh additional data fields.
- In teh current solution, a canonical standard was proposed to use teh HIPPA standard transaction sets i.e. map teh equivalent field to 837 and use teh K3 fields of 837 to handle teh additional data fields. In teh original solution, each transmission included teh payer information, creating a transmission overhead.
- My proposal included archival of teh provider data and teh payer information in teh local database without transmitting to teh CareFirst units and also to compress teh data using .zip compression in sterling file gateway to create an efficient input/output transmission process.

Was responsible for installation, configuration, performance tuning, upgrade, creating installation guidelines and horizontal scaling of servers for installing teh product in Dev, Test and Production environments. Being teh primary client contact for all B2B connection setup, responsible for client technical support and user training. With Sterling File Gateway/B2Bi, it was possible to create a centralized control, organizational file transfer standards and security.
- Created Java applications for uploading and downloading files from/to teh backend servers to Sterling File Gateway, so dat teh users can use teh Java application without creating any custom scripts or manual file transmission between Sterling B2B and teh backend servers. Acquired extensive experience with setting-up file transfers between Sterling B2B and external/ clients/Internal Clients/Mainframe/VPN connections, scheduled file upload and download, maintenance, production support, documentation and most importantly bringing users up to speed to work with SFG and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Teh biggest achievement was to create a front-end application to manage all teh transmissions. Proposed, planned and developed teh front-end application using SQL, jQuery, Unix script, java, workflow using IBM BPM and Sterling BPs written in BPML. dis lightweight front-end app stored all teh transmission related data in a local custom database outside teh scope of Sterling database. dis workflow-based app successfully automated a number of significant and complex repetitive tasks like user creation, user security and permission assignment, automatic email transmission and management approval. Users could access all functionality from dis from end without going inside SFG. dis was used to track transmissions and search all teh transmission related data, so dat teh users do not has to go through various Sterling configurations to find details about a transmission. dis application empowered teh employees to setup their transmission using a workflow, scheduled user creation in LDAP and Active Directory, identifying transmission details, and custom reporting. As a result of dis, teh channel creation time reduced form 4-6 weeks to 1-2 weeks.
- Created a web site to support dis front-end tool, so dat teh employees can get self-help to use dis front end, create customized Autosys scripts to schedule for SFG and set up file transmissions in Test environment with minimal help from Administrators.
- Created a Sterling B2B specific deployment process, so dat teh file transmissions were created and tested in Test/Qual environment and tan create an export package so dat teh production support team can deploy it to production. Automated teh Service Request creation for deployment as per company standards.
- SME for GPM, BPML, XML, XPATH. Created 90+ customized complex business processes, 8 different custom protocols and 50+ maps using Map Editor to be used with teh custom business processes and code-lists. Responsible for Sterling Operations Management and Permission Management. Gained extensive experience with EDI ANSI X12 mapping.
- Created various Business Processes/Workflows using BPML for custom business Processes, routine maintenance activities like deleting files from mailboxes at scheduled intervals, scheduling jobs etc. Autosys integration was done with SFG by using command line BPs, so dat teh users could schedule their file transmission using Autosys scheduler, which reduced teh server load on IBM Sterling Integrator significantly.
- Extensive experience with various protocols like FTP, FTPS, SFTP (Key based, and Password based Autantication), HTTP, AS2 and CONNECT:DIRECT, certificates, ciphers, PGP/GPG encryption and decryption, zipping and unzipping files, routing channels, template creation, code lists and export/import. Worked on planning and developing various custom protocols to send files to multiple directories using a file name filter, sending files to different servers using filename filter and broadcasting files. Worked with number of COTS applications for FTP, FTPS and SFTP.
- Created various Unix scripts for various Sterling B2Bi/Connect:Direct activities to automate tasks like user creation, integration with Autosys server for scheduled file get and put (with Sterling Command Line Adapter2), automatic installation and configuration of SFG and CONNECT:DIRECT as well as scripts to FTP/SFTP/FTPS/AS2 files to/from Sterling B2Bi and Java code to integrate with external applications on Windows and Unix platform.
- Teh Sterling B2Bi implementation in Confidential was a great success with 99.9% availability, and it was approved as teh only Enterprise Solution to transmit files to external clients. All home-grown file transmissions were required to be migrated to Sterling B2Bi. In 4 years, more TEMPthan 3000 transmissions were created to connect with various corporate clients, many of teh transmissions requiring complex integration with backend services and Mainframe system. dis setup enabled transmission/reception of more TEMPthan 10000 files daily.
- Successfully set up more TEMPthan 3000 file transmissions. Because of teh custom front end, dis saved teh organization more TEMPthan 7500 man-weeks.
- Created scripts to automate teh installation of IBM Connect:Direct File Agents on Linux/AIX/Solaris Servers, created custom protocol in SFG for WebSphere MQ connections so dat files can be sent to different servers using MQ.
- Developed exceptional relationships with internal customers, Sterling users and external business partners.
