Role Description: The BA typically is involved in analyzing data submitted to the
PA Information Management System to determine if it is accurate and complete. When errors,
omissions and other issues are identified, the BA will be responsible to
communicate with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) both orally and in writing, to help them
understand the issue and to correct the data in the data warehouse. In addition, the BA will be
analyzing data in the PAsecureID student unique identification system, to determine if there are
students with duplicate or shared PAsecureIDs; then working to get the IDs corrected in the
PAsecureID system. PAsecureID corrections must be translated to the PIMS data warehouse, as
PAsecureID is the identifying data element for all student data in the PIMS data warehouse.
Finally, the candidate will work to identify and correct Professional Personnel Identification
(PPID) errors in the PIMS data warehouse; PPID is the identifying data element for professional
staff in PIMS and the Teacher Certification System (TCS). An appropriate match between a teacher s
certification in TCS and a
teacher s assignment in PIMS determines a teacher s Highly Qualified status or Not Highly
Qualified status for each class taught, as required by federal No Child Left Behind
legislation.
