Short Description:  

The primary responsibility of a Product Specialist is to develop and facilitate end user training for PennDOT custom mobile apps. This position requires travel throughout the commonwealth. Overnight travel is also required.

Product Specialist (PS3)

The primary responsibility of a Product Specialist is to develop and facilitate end user training for PennDOT custom mobile apps.  The Product Specialist requires significant to expert experience and skills in the product platform supported.  The Product Specialist is responsible for collaborating with business Subject Matter Experts and the Mobile Development team members that develop, deploy and support PennDOT mobile apps. They will also be responsible for coordinating the training and scheduling with business training staff and Central Office and District IT staff.

Role Description:
  • Strong communication skills; both written and spoken.
  • Possess working knowledge of Apple iPads and mobile apps for business (non-personal) use and can effectively deliver training for the major components of PennDOT custom mobile apps.
  • Provide initial and periodic assessments to baseline current state and develop a training strategy for future state.
  • Design training plans that deliver large-scale transformation with results that achieve Department-wide adoption of continued use and proficiencies.
  • Customize all training aspects to fit PennDOT’s needs.
  • Customize and manage training plans, material creation, and rollout of training to fit PennDOT’s needs.
  • Possess the ability to effectively develop and deliver trainings and materials via multiple methods:
    • Train-the-trainer.
    • Web based.
    • Class room/Instructor led.
    • Videos.
    • FAQs and mobile product bulletins.
    • Record and replay.
  • Work closely with the PennDOT business and IT resources that develop and support the PennDOT mobile apps.
  • Possess outstanding documentation and communication skills.
  • Develop obtainable goals and delivery metrics that demonstrate measures of success in adoption and continued use.
  • Develop customized training for additional PennDOT mobile apps as needed.
  • Demonstrates expertise in teaching/conveying technical and/or functional courses/concepts.

  • Identifies improvements to project training standards to achieve high quality results.

Required Desired Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with above mentioned skills.
