The Computer Operator (CO) is responsible for the preparation and operation of teleprocessing computers and peripheral equipment. The Computer Operator works on various mainframe and network equipment to troubleshoot issues and restore operability based on established procedures of the State DTI. The Computer Operator might also monitor the computer and network infrastructure, data center environmental controls and physical security systems to take appropriate action as required.
Preferred Education: 2 year college degree or equivalent technical study in computer operations field
Role Description:
- Operate multiple systems and computers for enterprise wide systems.
- Monitor the Division of Unemployment Insurance daily jobs that run on the mainframe at DTI
- Print letters and bills - utilize the Pitney Bowe equipment for folding and stuffing the correspondence that is mailed
- Interact with the scheduling staff at DTI, the UI IT staff, end users and managers.
- -Solicit calls to Printer vendor/Pitney Bowe vendor for maintenance or problems on equipment
- Not all jobs are scheduled; need to request jobs to be run either from the various UI units or UI IT staff
- Load wage CDs to the mainframe
- Log production jobs, record print counts for the two printers as they need to be sent to UI Fiscal every month for billing purposes
- Deal with confidential data on a daily basis.
