Responsibilities:

Minimize and mitigate service interruptions and degradations
Responsive environment issue resolution across time zones - unblock global development teams when they have an environment issue
Timely deployments of new applications - maintaining an agile docker based process for most applications, whilst also supporting resource intensive system components such as Kafka and Cassandra.
Proactive stack maintenance - Regularly seek and proactively resolve problems that haven’t yet shown up on a graph
Proactive patching & security support - Regularly run patch & security reports; ensure any issues are addressed
Environment Testing Automation - Create/Implement and run environment tests and fire drills, share learnings to improve stability/scalability and security
Disaster Recovery - Create/Implement and run disaster recovery plans and fire drills, share learnings to improve stability/scalability and security

Skill Set Required:

Operating & supporting CI/CD/CT pipelines at scale
Understanding and ensuring best practice security when handling sensitive personal information
Ubuntu administration and management (additional Redhat knowledge would be a positive)
Enterprise AWS deployment
Use of Cloud Formation
Using ELBs and ASGs to deploy high availability/high resilience environments
Knowledge and experience using Chef or Puppet automation to deploy and manage Linux systems in production and CI environments.
Knowledge and practical experience of Jenkins for CI
Deployment of bespoke software from Continuous Integration
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience of deploying JVM based applications
Performance monitoring and optimization of JVM applications using tools such as JvisualVM
IPSEC , OpenVPN & PKI
Implementing secure communication channels between systems
Certificate management in heterogeneous environments
Knowledge of Cassandra and Kafka or RabbitMQ systems and maintenance
Mesos infrastructure admin knowledge a plus.
