Location: Burlington, MA
Duration: 6 months, contract to hire
Looking for strong background in Linux and Weblogic - ideally looking for some sort of a combination of (windows, Active Directory or LDAP) as well.
The Engineer will be responsible for installing, upgrading, and maintaining applications in our private cloud, as well as customer-hosted instances.
Environments are technically sophisticated, and the ideal candidate is looking to learn and work within the Agile Deployment Methodology, custom and COTS tools, automation technologies, monitoring, alerting, and others.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of technologies used to run the cloud
- Successfully executes all assignments timely and within acceptable quality levels
- Asks for help and works collaboratively with team members when issues present themselves; does not settle for not knowing the outcome or resolution steps for important issues
- Effective communicator / documenter – documents process and trains team members with ease
- Identifies knowledge gaps and closes them; demonstrates consistent intellectual curiosity and drive to learn more and self-develop himself/herself
- Articulates technical and business-related problems and solutions in a concise, effective manner
- Automates standard service offerings related to the deployment, maintenance, and support of the software. Works collaboratively and shares knowledge of automation skills with team members to scale the capability of improving processes and services
- Performing all job functions consistent with policies and procedures, including those which govern handling PHI and PII
- Requirements:
- 3+ years of prior work experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related disciplines, or equivalent work experience
- Experience training or acting in a deployment or solutions engineer, and/or system/platform engineer, technical application support, or experience in a system administration role
- An Engineering mindset – focused on designing, implementing and improving processes and technology
- Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with major J2EE middleware tier software offerings such as: WebLogic, WebSphere, or JBoss
- Strong Linux administration including shell scripting, file editing (vi, ed), sFTP, CRON
- Familiarity with a programming or scripting language such as Java, Python or Perl
- Basic networking know-how
- Knowledge and experience with LDAP, Active Directory, and Single Sign On (SSO) solutions
- Working knowledge of XML
- Working knowledge of SQL; familiarity with Oracle, MS SQL Server, PL/SQL and T-SQL and related relational database technologies
- Interest in deployment and automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and experience working with major public cloud providers including Azure, Amazon Web Services, and RackSpace
- Ability and desire to learn new technologies and apply new skills
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and communicate to project teams.
