Detailed Job Description:
- Manage physical and virtual Server platforms Unix (Solaris), (Proficiency in Redhat, Windows, ESXi, Citrix would be an added advantage),
- Perform all Server operations, including the operation of Server consoles and the creation, Configuration, and management of startup and operational command procedures,
Including:
- Allocate resources to Applications and Databases as required
- Create, customize and maintain startup and operational command procedures for all Servers
- Perform Server startups and shutdowns as required for Normal Operations, emergency situations and recovery efforts
- Apply security patches and perform server upgrades (Minor and Major)
Perform all Server virtualization activities, including:
- Install (remote activities only, not physical onsite installation) and Configure Hardware to meet hypervisor/virtualization manager requirements
- Configure the hypervisor, including in high availability mode if required
- Perform routine optimization of the hypervisor
- Configure virtual networking where required
- Configure remote administration via a variety of remote access tools, including RDP
- Migrate a Server to the hypervisor
- Create or clone virtual machines
- Create and manage virtualization templates, profiles and images
- Monitor and optimize virtual machines
- Manage snapshots and Backups of the hypervisor and virtual machines
- Configure high availability for virtual machines
Minimum years of experience*: 7+
Knowledge and Skills:
- 7 years of experience on Solaris Administration (Unix)
- Redhat, Windows, ESXi and Citrix Administration would be an added advantage
- Monitored system and network activity to quickly detect any problems related to system security, performance, or system failures in a timely fashion and meet SLA agreements and provide daily technical support and 24X7 on-call support as well as weekend outage and miscellaneous tasks
- Candidate in this role will be required to work in Shift.
- Administration of Solaris Servers, Develop Solaris administration test plans and perform testing.
- Familiarity with load balancing, firewalls, and other network-based tools
- Ensure to determine and resolve system-wide problems on market data servers as well as data delivery networks (LAN and WAN).
- Managed systems configuration and maintenance, problem troubleshooting, system and program security, applications and program management, planning and directing upgrades, and testing operations to ensure optimum system functionality
- Experience in monitoring tools like BMC Patrol, HP System Insight
- Good Communication and Analytical skills
