Description: The web application developer designs, writes, tests, and debugs/troubleshoots enterprise wide web applications according to the department lifecycle development approach (SDLM). Perform advanced web application design with a high degree of independence; develop high-level systems and functional specifications; develop domain and data models and prototypes for application design; validate relational database models; assemble varied software components in a web based application; revise and adapt existing code to meet new requirements; incorporate security requirements into an application; test and validate web applications by developing unit test scripts, interpret test results, make recommendations and support user acceptance testing; guide and direct work on multiple projects and ensures proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production; analyze relevance of emerging technology solutions to business problems; perform dynamic integration of emerging technology solutions and re-integrate them into existing applications; utilize open source/third party library functionality. The position assists project management with analysis and research on technical problems; communicating problems and project risks, scheduling/coordination of project development and activities of assigned projects. Qualifications: Considerable experience using Java, JavaScript, HTML and XML / XSLT; JSP and other page template languages; Object Oriented Analysis and Design, UML; Relational Database (RDBMS) Modeling; Enterprise Java Beans (EJB v 2.x – 3.0); Message Oriented Middleware (MOM), JMS; Java Transaction Architecture (JTA); Security of Java and Web Applications (JAAS, SSL/TLS, security in Struts applications, common web application security risks); Common design patterns (Gang of Four, J2EE Blueprints, etc); Relational databases such as Oracle 9i or 10g, DB2 V7 or V8; Eclipse-based IDE’s including Rational Application Developer or equivalent; Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server or other J2EE-compliant application server; web development of major applications; full life cycle development of information systems; analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of large automated systems; experience using the Rational Toolset.
