Detailed Job Description:

Responsible for working with Software and Applications Engineers to define technology architecture, including policies, standards and procedures used by Implementation and Support/Operations teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understands relevant business and technology directions
  • May translate directions into vision and strategy relevant for business and systems needs
  • Provides input into enterprise strategies and roadmaps
  • Stays up-to-date with evolving trends
  • Participates in developing application system and technology standards, templates and methods
  • Effectively applies standards in designs within their domain
  • Effectively communicates relevant information across IT, using appropriate communication methods
  • Analyzes and provides guidance for architectural solutions to development and technology initiatives, and operational problems, focusing on adaptable and sustainable solutions
  • Leads and drives the translation of functional requirements to architectural approaches and technical designs
  • Find ways to overcome or erase technical debt in new designs
  • Working with more senior architects, understands and takes the big picture into account
  • Architecture for one or more IT business systems, processes, and technologies within a domain
  • Ensuring the success of projects is not adversely affected by architectural decisions in their domain
  • Able to identify, analyze and solve problems in their domain for themselves and others
  • Able to accurately assess risks and dependencies, and present viable solutions within their domain
  • Develops processes applicable to their domain
  • Follows accepted architectural methods; provides input in the development of standard architectural methods used within their domain
  • Based on their domain knowledge, identifies tactical opportunities for exploiting new and emerging solutions
  • Drives decisions within their domain
  • Participates in decisions outside of their domain
  • Takes direction from Sr. Architects
  • IT business systems, business processes, or technologies within a domain, e.g.: Store Systems architect, Network architect
  • Mentors and/or coaches others in their areas of expertise
  • Documents standards and methods for use by others 
  • Maintains Architectural Artifacts in accessible locations
  • Leads and participates in multiple teams
  • Forms and guides teams within their department
  • Recognized for their ability to lead teams within their area in the identification and resolution of problems
  • Influences IT associates on business systems or technical solution directions
