The Department of Human Services, Division of Data Management, located at 1305 E. Walnut, Des Moines, IA is seeking one project manager. The department has several projects underway that require project management assistance.
DHS primarily has two environments: Legacy Cobol/CICS/IDMS/VSAM systems and client server/Web .NET systems. Most systems are centralized but there are distributed systems as well that are used in field offices and DHS owned and operated facilities. Many systems are home grown while some systems use third-party applications.
DHS is currently involved in several projects for implementing a new eligibility determination system. DHS (Division of Data Management) needs a Project Manager to provide project management support to several Bureau projects in support of the Agency's implementation of the new Eligibility Determination system (ELIAS). The Bureau has several systems that will require major changes and needs to ensure these projects are managed to meet implementation timelines. The project manager will primarily manage software application projects but may be called upon to assist with Network Infrastructure projects as well.
The selected candidate will also be responsible for managing multiple small and large projects that are assigned as the need arises. Some tasks may consist of small studies and investigations, while others may require leading small or large teams consisting of technical staff along with business users that may play a significant role in these projects.
The selected individual should expect to perform normal project management tasks such as developing project plans, managing the plans, liaison with users, mentoring and leading technical staff, providing hands-on leadership for complex tasks, providing status to IT and user management, working with vendors, etc.
