Detailed Job Description:
- Min 4 to 5 years of experience in MariaDB management & administration
- Familiarity with other databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL will be an added advantage
- Understanding of MySQL s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
- Experience setting up Master-Slave replication, Multi-Master replication, backup, point in time recovery, high available configurations and disaster recovery in a complex and dynamic production environment
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
- Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
- Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL or MariaDB
- Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
- Troubleshooting database issue and performance tuning
- Maintain database high availability and ensure all production database work properly
- Review release notes and upgrade or patch database software based on maintenance schedules
- Knowledge of limitations in MySQL/MariaDB and their workarounds
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating system (RedHat) and basic commands
- Proficient writing Linux shell scripts for maintenance and automation purposes will be an added advantage
- Strong communication skills and ability to add recommendations on architecture/design decisions that will ensure optimal application performance with MySQL/MariaDB
