Job Description:
The selected consultant will provide a full range of solutions architecture and systems engineering skills in support of the Information Technology Division’s CIS mainframe. The objective is to test and upgrade the SCC z/OS mainframe BMC Control-D software from its present 6.3.9 level to the vendor’s current 8.0.1 level successfully on mainframes located at the Tyler Building and the SCC’s disaster recovery site in Sandston, Virginia.
The consultant will be responsible for the following:
• Critical analysis and documentation of technical options, products, and approaches
• Eliciting, analyzing, and documenting project requirements
• Ensuring that technical and business requirements are complete
• Identifying and documenting project issues, risks, assumptions, constraints, and dependencies
• Creating diagrams and other visual aids to convey functional and technical requirements and solutions
• Developing communication plans, workflow diagrams, change management plans, implementation plans, and test plans
• Ensuring that requirements are met by the proposed solution
• Supporting system testing and deployments
Required Skill Set:
• 8 or more years with advanced experience in systems programming and, in particular, experience with installing, upgrading, and operating z/OS BMC Control-D versions 6 through 8 or higher
• Hands-on systems analysis and technical requirements gathering skills
• Critical thinking and advanced problem-solving skills and abilities
• Meticulous attention to detail, skilled in providing clear and well-written technical documentation
• Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and to work independently
• Experience with BMC ICE tool and IBM SMPE
