Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a project portfolio aligned with the Citys strategic objectives and business goals.
  • Guide the portfolio processes so it contributes to the overall success of the City leadership, residents, businesses, and visitors.
  • Prioritize IT portfolio projects and coordinate resources and needs for success.
  • Ensure high-quality portfolio information and status are available.
  • Plan onboarding of new projects.
  • Identify and mitigate portfolio risks.
  • Take ownership of the portfolio and processes.
  • Champion strong IT governance in the project management framework and mentor project managers in its development and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Internal/external partners and sponsors ensuring key stakeholders are identified and engaged early in the project life cycle.
  • Engage in, coordinate, and review the financial components of projects.
  • Continuously evaluate portfolio against written standards of excellence.
  • Use Project Management Institute (PMI) methodologies and other best practices.
  • Establish and use an accurate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and resource allocation.
  • Establish a culture of high attention to detail.
  • Establish portfolio dates/milestones, track, and follow up to ensure completion.
  • Know the status, issues, and risks of the portfolio projects.
  • Participate in the coordination of, planning and budgeting, and acceptance processes.
  • Coordinate or participate in the review of portfolio procedures and standards.
  • Demonstrate superior seamless customer service, integrity, trust, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
  • Develop project proposals.
  • Sequence projects based on resource constraints and dependencies.
  • Compare future resource utilization of project resources against the available capacity to do work.
  • Assess the risk of projects and manages portfolio level risks.
