Senior - 10+ Yrs Experience

 

The release manager organizes, directs, and manages activities for building and maintaining software and infrastructure releases for their promotion through a series of non-production platforms, ultimately leading to a production environment implementation. 

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Organize and coordinate complex releases that comprise of cross-functional teams and a multitude of interrelated and independent application and/or infrastructure changes

Establish enterprise release schedules

Ensure resource (people and technology) requirements in support of a release are met

Ensure risk mitigation practices are in place (i.e. back out/contingency planning, etc…)

Ensure existing change management process requirements are met

Provide on-going written and verbal release status updates to various levels of the organization

Serve as the key release representative in all communication, management and decision-making forums/discussions (i.e. Change Management, Enterprise Project Framework, Stage Gates, Post Release Review, etc…)

Serve as an escalation point for all issues and questions associated with a release

Ability to be flexible and use subject matter experts, circumstantial evidence and sound judgment to mitigate risks by adjusting releases and/or release management process requirements

Uses post release reviews to improve and adjust documentation on the release process, roles and responsibilities, policies and procedures

Qualifications - Specific Job Skills:

7+ years’ experience release management, service delivery and/or similar process

5+ years’ experience leading and managing teams across multiple locations and demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross functional teams

Proven track record of writing, managing and tracking against a plan

Experience establishing a new, ITIL-based service delivery processes, such as release management, in medium to large environment a strong plus

 

Education and/or Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT or related field or equivalent experience PMP Certification a strong plus ITIL Certification a strong plus
