SIGNALS Telecommunications Technical Services, LLC is currently seeking 3-5 Wireless Test Specialists / Field Engineers in the following markets:
- Minneapolis
- Las Vegas
- Chicago
- Dallas
- San Francisco
- Seattle
- Baltimore/Washington, DC
- Other Markets considered for the right candidates
For a Long Term Contract Position.
- Anticipated Position Duration - 12 months (in some cases this will be ongoing indefinitely).
- Domestic travel is sometimes necessary.
- B.S. in Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science; or equivalent. Three to four years experience in field test or installation in the wireless industry with references. (Device testing, Infrastructure installation/test); or a combination of a two-year technical degree and practical experience in field device testing.
- Experience with VoLTE.
- Experience on QXDM (Qualcomm) tool.
- Experience with testing E911 accuracy and/or A-GPS highly desired.
- General experience with Cell phone field testing and troubleshooting.
- Dependable, trustworthy, good attention to detail, organized and efficient.
- Able to manage own tasks and test plans under minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Good communication skills.
- Available for full time, with a somewhat flexible schedule.
- Willing to travel domestically for five to seven days at a time.
- Good understanding of GSM and UMTS/WCDMA.
- Excellent PC experience, familiar with Windows, saving files, creating folders, installing drivers, troubleshooting common Windows problems.
- Experience with Excel.
- Be able to carry equipment and walk three to four city blocks at a time getting to test site.
- Ability to manage questions from passers-by and curious onlookers.
- Authorized to work in the US.
- Wireless infrastructure testing subject matter expert (SME) on RF and Air interface.
- Lab experience with Base Station Simulator equipment and signal faders, like Rhode & Schwarz or similar is a major plus.
- Attention to details and ability to learn and get up to speed in a short period of time.
Performance of the Following Tasks:
- Set up simulators and instruments to emulate the behaviors of real world wireless infrastructure of generic and specific wireless route environments, Simulation of Cell towers, Base Stations, etc.
- Convert captured test route environment data to a common format for lab playback during test simulations.
- Create a test route library from captured route test data accumulated by field testers.
- Train customers in the use of the simulators.
- Perform A-GPS E911 Accuracy Testing per published test plan:
1. Six Stationary Test points, spending two or more hours at each.
2. Including a three or more hours drive tests
3. Voice Quality
4. Call Performance
5. Data Performance
6. Video Performance
- Troubleshoot related device and tool issue on site as required.
- Use required call control scripts that automate the calling sequence.
- Monitor the real time performance of the testing, ensuring data collected is accurate and the test runs smoothly.
- Manage resulting log files which can include reviewing for accuracy, content, post-processing and uploading to central server.
