DC.Gov is the District government's official web portal, consisting of over 100 websites and almost 100,000 pages. It has annual traffic of 14 million visitors making 29 million visits per year. It won the 2014 Best of the Web Award for City Government Web Portals from the Center for Digital Government.

 

OCTO's Web Team is currently in the midst of implementing responsive design for agency websites. Responsive design was introduced in 2014 with the DC.Gov home page and associated resource pages. Now OCTO intends to expand that to the 100+ agency websites.

 

Transition activities include managing agency client expectations, explaining technical concepts to non-technical people, conducting quality assurance of the agency website after the responsive templates have been applied to the agency website and assisting with the launch of the new, responsive site. The candidate will follow universal content management principles as well as District of Columbia web standards throughout the responsive design implementation. It is the candidate’s responsibility to become familiar with District of Columbia terminology, District services and the agencies that provide such services. Some fact finding and research is required.

 

This particular effort is expected to last approximately 4-5 months depending on the progress of implementation.

 

Expertise with Drupal is required. Experience with responsive design is highly desired. Although the principal role is that of a web editor, strong analytical skills, as well as the ability to work with others are contemplated as part of this position.
