Description:
The Product Specialist is a network engineer that will be part of the team that will migrate the existing Executive Branch Wide Area Network to the new Wide Area Network Aggregation routing architecture.
The Product Specialist is a network engineer that will be part of the team that will migrate the existing Executive Branch Wide Area Network to the new Wide Area Network Aggregation routing architecture. The expert will be responsible for configuring and troubleshooting Vlans, SVIs, spanning-tree instances, PVlans and other related topologies. The primary responsibility of a Product Specialist is to follow specific engineering templates which will enable the transition form individual legacy routing domains into a new common and structured architecture. They must also ensure the availability and support of existing network infrastructure during the migration process. The Product Specialist requires significant to expert experience and skills in the Cisco hardware platform that performs standards-based routing and switching. The Product Specialist will usually also have significant proficiency using the Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and ISO-XR operating systems. The Product Specialist is responsible for collaborating with other technical staff within this unit as well as others within the organization. They must be able to document and diagram the technologies deployed and effectively communicate changes through the in-house ticketing system.

Years of Relevant Experience: 7 plus years
Preferred Education: 4 year college degree or equivalent technical study.
Current professional level Cisco Certification( CCEI not required but a plus)
Role Description: All roles specified in PS4 plus the following:
Responsible for functioning as the Technical SME on an enterprise-wide system.
Responsible for troubleshooting and configuring Vlans, SVIs, layer 2 Port-Channels, Dot1Q trunks, PVlans, vPCs adn general Data Link Layer.
Responsible for troubleshooting and configuring OSPF , EIGRP MP-BGP/MPLS, static routing and other Network Layer fundamental protocols.
Support exiting infrastructure using the established tools and techniques available. 
Document and diagram the technologies deployed, as well as to develop the documentation to any new initiative prior to deployment or purchase. 

Proficient using any Cisco hardware platform that performs standards-based routing and switching including Cisco IOS, IOS-XE & ISO-XR OSs.
