Systems Administrator 
**Local candidates STRONGLY preferred**

The Systems Administrator will become a member of George Mason University’s Admissions Technology Team (ATT).  The purpose of ATT is to help facilitate the use of technology in the achievement of the goals of the George Mason University Admissions Office.

ATT’s IT environment includes:

Hardware - Domain controller Servers, DNS servers, Web and database Servers, Terminal Servers, File and Print Server.  Environment: Microsoft, Active Directory, with both physical and virtual servers
Development Tools/Languages - SQL, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, Visual Basic, MS FrontPage, MS Office Automation and various scripting languages

Coordination with core central technology 
Main systems - Banner (Admissions Module) and Automic (AppWorx)

Key Responsibilities
• Maintain back office infrastructure for the Office of Admissions. Monitor and including critical systems during peak cycles which maybe outside regular business hours. 
• Continue and maintain automation capabilities for systems integration and business processes for all areas including recruitment, application processing, mailings and document imaging. 
• Act as technology coordinator and lead systems administrator for the office.
• Ensure the security and dependability of the office’s systems and make sure infrastructure meets standards mandated by the University and State.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team staff and act as back up to other team members as needs arise. Provide technical support to admissions staff.  
Basic Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate sophisticated problem solving and organizational skills, as well as the ability to think critically and logically to effectively implement and maintain Mason’s Admissions Office multiuse computer system and networks.
Required Skills and Experience 
• Must have at least 4 years related experience as a Windows Administrator
• Must have experience configuring and maintaining Windows 2003-2012 Servers
• Must have experience administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012 databases
• Must have experience with server virtualization, ideally using Hyper V
• Must have experience administering web servers and desktop support and controls
• Must have experience with scripting for process automation using Visual Basic and VBScript
• Must have experience administering Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with customers
• Excellent written communications skills to produce detailed, accurate technical documentation
