Description of Needed Skills:
Agile / Iterative Software Development experience - MUST
Ability to partner with external / non-mobile teams, other BBY business
units/teams, and external digital agencies to develop overall project plan to
achieving targeted business goals and outcomes
Estimate effort (schedule & cost) to delivery project
Tactical - detail oriented - forms decisions based on data driven fact. Must be
able to drill down on plan to unearth data and determine cause-and-effect
relationships between issues and impacts on plan, e.g., total hours/dollars
spent working on software development and unit testing for sprint x; total
hours / dollars spend to date with vendor y and expected total spend; schedule
issue z is resulting in xx days delay to activity y. Delay can be made up in
subsequent phase, therefore, schedule status is yellow; High threat scope risk
x has been realized. There is an impact to project cost as result of needing an
additional resource(s) to deliver additional scope.
Project Management Expert
MS-Excel - ability to manage and control project budgets across multiple
vendors to a rolled up line itemized overall project view. Tracking actuals to
date, forecasting Estimates At Complete on a weekly basis
Risk Management - appreciation for and strong implementation of project risk
management in the effort to identify potential problems and develop plans to
prevent problems from occurring Issue Management - ability to clearly identify
issues and leverage as a mechanism for effective escalation to management to
aid in resolution
Communication Management / Status Reporting - ability to
effectively synthesize actual results relative to plan performance, including
ability to understand and communicate affects of open risks, issues, and
project changes against the plan to provide clear assessment of project status
against triple constraint - cost, schedule scope - and in turn overall status
People Leadership / Motivating Others - Ability to manage
matrixed, cross functional, multi vendor teams and motivate team members to
deliver best in class mobile software results. Must have ability to identify
and play to team members' strengths. An experienced people leader, having the
ability to diffuse challenging situations.
Problem Management / Escalation - Understands how to utilize escalation to raise issues / problems to the attention of others that can help remove obstacles and clear road blocks impacting team performance. Escalates when appropriate, i.e., prior to escalation has exhausted options to resolve problem through means available.
