Short Description:  UI Health Care Information Systems is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to lead a team supporting the communications infrastructure at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, its data centers and remote site loc

Complete Description:  This position provides the design, analysis, performance and maintenance of communication systems infrastructures, including pathways and spaces, telecommunication (technology) rooms, cabling selection and equipment necessary to support voice, data, wireless, video, paging, CATV, nurse call, and other communication services and systems. The incumbent will work with UIHC Capital Management, end users, architects, engineers and various vendors to ensure adequate communication pathways, technology rooms and endpoints, assuring compliance with industry, regulatory, department and institution installation standards, and following policies and procedures in accordance with the guidelines of The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) and Health Care Information Systems (HCIS). 
Duties Include
• Interpreting, comprehending and implementing design documents as provided; 
• Participating in construction design meetings, representing infrastructure and cabling system requirements; 
• Determining appropriate architecture, topology and transmission requirements for voice, data, coax and                  fiber optic cabling systems based on established departmental and industry guidelines and standards.
• Developing project budgets as they pertain to cabling systems and technology rooms; 
• Providing construction documents as needed for project teams; 
• Providing hands-on technical installation assistance and oversight (may include driving to offsite locations); 
• Maintaining quality and quantity standards, procedures and guidelines for the design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of information transport systems; 
• Recommending measures to improve service, equipment performance, scheduling, quality control, efficiency and safety.
