QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in the use of professional GIS software including ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Model Builder, Python, and other Esri technologies. Knowledge of linear referencing systems, dynamic segmentation, programming, scripting, and batch processing.
College degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology or appropriate field. Specialized coursework in GIS, geography, or cartography desired.
DUTIES:
Support all forms of GIS use at VDOT’s Northern Virginia District and look for new opportunities to apply GIS to help the District’s mission. Advise District GIS users in planning and implementing GIS applications. Perform spatial analyses, geo-coding, map production, data development and other tasks as needed. Provide GIS technical support and training to District GIS users and assist users in the understanding and use of available GIS tools.
Support District programs such as Pavement Management, Land-Use Permits, Construction, Maintenance, Traffic Operations, Snow Operations, Transportation Planning and others.
Ability to work with diverse groups of varying experience in developing solutions related to GIS. Ability to work in team-based, collaborative GIS environment dedicated to providing quality customer service, supportive of VDOT values. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers. Make VDOT better by promoting the effective use of spatial technology in support of the District's purpose, mission, and goals.
