Short Description:  The Database Administrator will be primarily responsible for the maintenance, enhancement and performance tuning DB2 for Unix databases.  The DBA will also work as part of a team to provide DB2 database subsystem management and Curam database deployments

Complete Description:  Local candidates preferred, but not required.

In addition, this person will be required to provide 24x7 afterhours support on a rotating basis.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
In-depth DB2 Database Administration experience (5+ years).  
Experience with Curam database deployments is highly preferred.

Responsibilities:
Database administration, implementation, and maintenance tasks including but not limited to:
• Enforcing database naming/creation/deletion standards in the DEV, TST, UAT and PRD environments
• Establish, oversee, and optimize all database maintenance (i.e. update statistics, etc) and backup processes
• Enforce and implement appropriate security measures
• Curam database deployments
Troubleshoot application database issues.
Optimize the architecture, hardware, and system resources allocated to database environments for high availability and minimum downtime.
Ensure the 24x7 availability and performance of databases including "on-call" responsibilities.
Troubleshoot performance issues.
Understands and adheres to proper change management policies and procedures.
Maintains technical documentation to reflect changes to the environment.
Performs process automation using various scripting technologies and methodologies.
Provide assistance to developers in database performance tuning, best practices and problem resolution.
Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, and other data issues.
Manage backup and recovery of databases.
Prepare, maintain and execute disaster recovery plans.
Monitor databases for errors and perform problem determination when necessary.
Make recommendations with regard to the proper architecture changes needed to support the growing needs of the EEF Project.
