Staff nurses can now take the data to the facility where the procedures were performed and collect data from medical records and verbal conversations for review by HIS Health Information Services personnel. The combined goal of both applications is to identify the top 50 most costly procedures due to complications and the facilities/physicians responsible for those cases. By identifying the responsible parties BCBSAL can adjust their in network service providers appropriately in order to improve the level of service and lower the cost of insurance to their customers.
