The Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), a national mortgage modification program, provides eligible borrowers the opportunity to modify their first lien mortgage loans or second lien mortgage loans to make them more affordable. The Home Affordable Unemployment Program (UP), which is a part of HAMP provides assistance to borrowers who are unable to make their mortgage payments as a result of unemployment.
