Data Analysis DB2, MS Access, Excel

DB2, Excel Quarterly Reports Historical Data Extracts covering all aspects of work done in the agency and used to create reliable statistics that are used in all data representations for the quarter. Topics cover Compliance Evaluations, Complaints, Violations, Financial Agreements, Construction evaluations, Enforcement Activities and Contractor Timeliness. DB2, Excel Staff Timeliness Reporting Implemented reports that are used by management to hold regions and district offices accountable for making status entries and processing candidates in a timely manner. It is expected that this will not only increase timeliness, but data accuracy and ultimately make cases more enforceable. DB2, Excel Provide Excel Reports in response to Ad Hoc Data Requests ranging from simple data extracts to requests that require substantial analysis be done to create meaningful aggregates about such things as the processing of compliance evaluations or the results of completed compliance evaluations or how financial remedies and/or violations relate to various protected groups. Frequently Ad Hoc Data Requests become scheduled reports or are requested repeatedly in one-off format. A catalog of reports was created to more rapidly respond to these requests over time. DB2, Excel, MS Access Created reports that demonstrate the flow of compliance evaluations through the process over time. A table with statuses across the top and months down the left side showed how many cases entered each status each month which made it visually obvious where the process bogs down.

CenterRun, VB6 COM, ASP, SQL Server: Implemented a proof of concept Application Deployment using CenterRun of the full Staples.com website, application servers and SQL Server Databases. Project involved full installation and upgrade installation deployments of Staples.com website code, MQ Series configurations, and database scripts.

VB6 COM, ASP, SQL Server: Implemented a new version of the Staples Catalog Browsing functionality based on the Brand Stores design see two bullets down . This was implemented to reduce the overall page load time while browsing the Staples.com website and was successful in its purpose. This was intended to be released along with a change to a database stored session management solution which increased the overall page load time.

VB6 COM, ASP, SQL Server: Implemented Favorite Items widget. After the new StaplesUser membership was implemented we added some new user customizable features to the website including the Favorite Items widget which allowed a user to add items to their favorites list and for an individual to see their company's favorite items list. VB6 COM, ASP, SQL Server: Implemented transition of Staples.com from the Site Server LDAP Membership service to custom built SQL Server, VB6/COM, and ASP membership solution. This included the data model for the new StaplesUser database, creation of the VB6 COM Component that accessed that database and the replacement of existing ASP Include files that accessed the old Membership Objects. Lead team to enhance the performance of newly developed code which soon exceeded QA's expectations. Ultimately the code changes resulted in a substantial gain in site performance, stability, and supportability. It also included the migration of the existing 2,000,000 user profiles from the LDAP database to the new StaplesUser database. The migration resulted in data shrinkage from 60 Gigs to 6 Gigs and new data model made troubleshooting Membership issues easy.

VB6 COM, ASP, SQL Server: Implemented Brand Stores for Staples.com, for example the 3M Brand Store. Implemented a new model for accessing the StaplesCatalog database that reduced round trips to the database from many down to one using a recursive stored procedure to traverse the catalog tree when levels of the tree were skipped. Also created a single new VB6 / COM Component to access the new tables and stored procedure as well as new ASP Pages to present the Brand Store. This new model reduced the overhead of the existing StaplesCatalog Implementation dramatically by not creating unnecessary objects and not going back and forth to the database repeatedly.

SQL Server: Automated database build scripts therefore reducing the time required to build a clean development environment.
