Data Warehousing Systems Analyst 2002 - 2006
Use Irwin modeling tool to organize data into hierarchical & star schema database structures. Use Informatica ETL tool to extract data from legacy systems; perform necessary translation and cleansing; and load to DB2, DB2UDB, or flat file targets. Accomplishments include:
- Development of data extraction process that extracts one years worth of production data from 20 historical tables on DB2UDB, performs data analysis and translation, and loads the resulting 14 million rows of data to 5 staging tables for input to a vendor supplied Predictive Modeling software package.
- Ongoing support of Predictive Modeling software as technical Administrator.
- Analysis, design, modeling, coding, testing, implementation and documentation of Bonus Datamart which extracts data from 10 Oracle, DB2 and customer maintained sources; performs necessary editing and error reporting; and loads validated data to a 9 table star schema.

Production Systems Analyst 2000 - 2002
Rejoined Mutual in November of 2000 as a Systems Analyst on their DB2 based Group Claims Financial System. Performed problem analysis, design, coding and testing. Accomplishments include:
- Performed problem analysis, design, coding and testing. Significant use of SQL.
- Conception, design, coding, and testing of JCLSUMM program that parses through a JCL library, reporting where each dataset is created and used, and locates all occurrences of specified search strings.

Data Conversion analyst. Analyze and map credit card account data to FDR files, write formal conversion specifications, review specs with clients, assist programmers in translating specs to code, review code, review test results, oversee conversion and installation of data. Also performed independent analysis, design, coding and testing of process improvements. Accomplishments include:
- Volunteered to develop a process to build Rewards detail records from converted monetary transactions, in response to an in-trouble project. Excellent results.
- Subsequently was recruited to customize above Rewards procedure for another project that realized their processing gap just 48 hours prior to conversion. Much rework. Excellent results.
- Developed an in depth training presentation on all aspects of converting account numbers.
- Identified need for additional process to allow balancing of monetary transactions during pre-conversion testing. Successfully implemented this, relieving customers concerns.
- Team Quantum Award in 9/99 for analyst role on 3.5 million account GE conversion.
- Quantum Award in 8/98 for constructing reusable routine that converts variable records with packed unsigned data (from Assembler program) to a COBOL friendly format.
Software Development Manager 1995 - 1998
First line supervision of team responsible for small file conversions and merging of converted data into production files. Provided technical training; assigned tasks; tracked progress; managed workloads; reviewed performance; provided personal and career consultations; determined appropriate rewards and corrective actions; reported upward; participated in management level decision making, salary administration, and interviewing . Continued to perform analytical tasks during this period. Accomplishments include:
- Supervised a total of 38 employees over this period, up to 15 at once. Exempt, non-exempt, entry level to seasoned veterans, contractors, full time, part time and interns. Strong contributors were advanced to large file conversion teams, thus high turnover and constant retraining. Very challenging.
- Developed Excel spreadsheet of employee overtime for comp time consideration.

Senior Project Manager 1993 - 1995
I was the Conversions department\'s first venture into formal project management. Charged with defining formal project management procedures for large conversions. Involved defining and estimating component tasks, identifying critical path, and constructing a logical base project plan that could be successfully completed by the pre-determined conversion date. Continued to be involved in technical analysis. Accomplishments include:
- Attended an intense Project Management course taught by Duncan-Nevison consultants.
- Developed a new project template, identifying all possible conversion tasks and standard estimates for each. This facilitated more precise project definition and more accurate project estimating.
- Applied newly defined project management tools to the conversion of credit card accounts from an Association of 23 banks. Although the technical conversion went very well, there were a few lessons learned the hard way.
- Independently researched, developed and implemented a Ticket Database conversion subsystem for capturing monetary transaction data from VISA and MasterCard; formatting it into complex variable length load records, containing from 4 to 10 of 21 possible data segments. Wrote re-useable base conversion specifications. Successfully completed the first conversion into the Ticket Database.

- Quantum Award and FAT CAT Award in 9/90 for project manager/analyst role in 1 million credit card conversion for First USA Bank. Independently designed a complex process for assigning 1 of several thousand account pricing codes based on a variable number of key values.
