SELECTED PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • At Divurgent Consulting, directed several projects at ten Indian Health hospitals with emphasis on provider adoption of the VistA EHR in all the ambulatory clinics. Projects involved: current to future state EHR implementation in the clinics optimized workflows in Pharmacy, Radiology, and Emergency Room. Wrote the detailed process to deploy the EHR in the Emergency Room for all Indian Health hospitals then successfully implemented the EHR in two Indian Health Hospitals. Improved patient satisfaction scores for the Pharmacy from 45 to 80 . Awarded with the 2013 Elite Values Award for outstanding client satisfaction.
  • At Siemens Medical developed new product functionality for Soarian Cardiology to support the automated collection of procedure outcome data for various registries for the American College of Cardiology ACC and the Society of Thoracic Surgery STS . Member of the evidence-based REMIND platform to electronically capture 50 clinical outcome data for real-time clinical surveillance at Med Central Hospital.
  • Directed several teams at Heartlab, an Agfa Company, to launch new product functionality including iPlan Manager, an electronic scheduling and reporting system developed in Gent, Belgium and sold globally. Coordinated a team to integrate DICOM Cardiology Radiology images with non-DICOM visible light images.
  • At Cerner Corporation, coordinated the implementation of one of the first ambulatory, PowerChart Office, Profit, CPOE, and Zynx Health installations into a large Cardiology physician practice. With Zynx Health, developed several health analytics reports based on identified key performance indicators.
  • Coordinated several population health projects at Edgewater Technology with three large health plans with emphasis on ways to electronically connect chronically ill patients via a disease management portal. These portals provided patient access to the provider while eConsultation payment was provided by the health plan.
  • As VP for Business Development for the Central Florida Division of HCA, directed several projects including reversing the decline of cardiac procedure volumes at one facility. The result was growth of elective CABG procedures from about 100 to 600 cases in three years. This was accomplished using a systematic approach to partner with physicians, improve staff expertise and deployment of tactical capital improvements.
  • At Saint Luke's Hospital, the Mid-America Heart Institute negotiated global pricing for cardiac surgery during the first CMS global pricing initiative. This resulted in a 2 million reduction in variable costs and aligned incentives between the cardiac surgeons and the hospital. Installed an electronic scheduling system in cath labs and CVORs linked to the physician's offices thus eliminating the manual scheduling whiteboard. Data from the scheduling system provided key analytic statistics to improve physician and staff productivity.
