Business Analyst/AWD Workflow Administrator

Responsibilities:

Worked from inception at the feasibility study phase to the successful rollout of the AWD application into various company departments. Completion of the project resulted in replacement of 500 ‘dummy terminals’ with computer workstations to maximize input, review and approval efforts related to departmental processing tasks.
  • Accurately outlined data elements and attributes to complete the extraction and loading of electronic records from an external file maintenance database into a work flow imaging database. Merging of records provided user access to one database for records retrieval, security and authentication needs.
  • Effectively performed business process analysis for Underwriting and New Issue activities to gather requirements for a custom work flow/straight-through solution related to the ‘express’ processing of applications. Leveraged existing process flows and business rules to garner details of the “as is” environment to be included or updated in the new design and to discover/confirm requirements. Created a prototype solution, provided to the technical team, to assess the design fit into the project’s requirements. Completion of the project resulted in the automation of several decision making processes, reducing underwriting approval and issue of express applications from 3-7 days to 1-2 days as well as reducing in the completion of new issue transactions from 5-15 days to 2-3 days.
  • Skillfully developed workflows for geographically separated units to consolidate core processing functions. Facilitated meetings with teams in the separate locations to elicit, document and confirm requirements with essential stakeholders. Creation of the new workflows resulted in business improvements and shared processing through the consolidation of tasks among the knowledge workers. Hardware and software costs too were significantly reduced as the need to house and upgrade applications on separate servers was eliminated.
  • Coordinated with fax software vendor to design a custom process to create electronic images from faxed documents and generate related work items for individual processing tasks. Identified by document type the work items to be created for routing to various work queues. Completion of the project resulted in 95% reduction in the manual effort to identify correctly and distribute faxed documents and shortened turn-around time to process the documents from 3-5 days to 1-3 days.
  • Implemented security measures safeguarding access to electronic documents stored on AWD servers. Document security included assigning security levels to imaged documents as well as assigning user privileges based on required need to view documents.
