Product Test Manager
Responsibilities:
- Managed team of 12+ employees who successfully released upgrades to existing products and new products into the FC switching market. Was responsible for an equipment budget of over $1M for test equipment, prototype products, servers, software and other essential equipment. Built an offshore team to complement the US team and reduce testing costs.
- The FC switches ran embedded Linux and were connected to servers running Windows, Linux, Unix, Solaris, IBM mainframe and other operating systems. Test automation used Tcl/Expect. The servers were connected through the FC switches to various storage arrays. Worked on increasing test automation using Tcl/Expect through a number of initiatives. Represented QA in cross-department meetings for the release of Brocade FC switches into the FICON (IBM mainframe) market. Brocade became the leader in FC switches in the FICON market.

Product Line Manager
Responsibilities:
- Managed QA, Support and Product Management for the FreedomIP Satellite Router. Started the QA department as the first employee and built a team to release the product to customers. Helped install the first networks at customer sites including onsite final acceptance testing. Wrote a set of scripts to automate the VxWorks build process using Perl and MS SourceSafe which resulted in consistent and reproducible builds with no errors from developers accidentally including non-production code in the official build. Trained the QA team to work as support engineers for the initial customers increasing customer satisfaction and follow-on orders. Accompanied Sales on customer visits in the US, Asia, Europe and South America resulting in customer orders.
- Testing included running tests from a VxWorks (OS on router card) console to running real world applications over satellites. The FreedomIP was a 3 Mbps L-band router card installed in a PC chassis running Windows OS. The L-band output was connected to C and Ku band satellite antennas that were connected through geostationary satellites to other FreedomIP stations in a mesh or star network configuration.

Quality Assurance Manager
Responsibilities:
- Starting in Technical Support worked up to QA Manager. While in Technical Support worked closely with Development, QA and Marketing to reduce the call volume on new products. As a QA Engineer started the automated testing of ATM for both Windows and Macintosh using MS Visual Test and Silktest that increased test coverage and reduced the number of contract employees needed to test releases.
- While QA Manager worked closely with Microsoft to ensure close integration between Adobe products and Microsoft Windows and Office products. Through all of these efforts eliminated the need for “dot” releases to fix defects found in the field, limiting new releases to feature upgrades and compatibility with new 3rd party products.
