Operational Support Analyst ll
(TM Floyd & Company)
System Consultant
- Create/Modify Easytrieve, COBOL, and DB2 (SQL) or SAS programs to generate routine internal and external reports on a daily, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Verify accuracy of data on reports. Analyze reports for correct balance of claims dollars and membership data.
- Interview customers to obtain ad hoc data requirements and specifications.
Maintain files for each client as assigned.
- Create/Modify COBOL programs to map HCFA-1500 claims data into the appropriate fields.
Projects:
Report Standardization Parser - Created a Visual Basic application that automatically converted text files into formatted Excel or Html web based reports. This application eliminated the time consuming process of manually formatting hundreds of reports.
Front End Applications - Developed several front end applications using MS Access and VB 6. These applications interacted with mainframe sessions creating a user-friendly environment.
Batch Job Processing - Created batch jobs in Rexx and JCL. These jobs executed 50 – 60 weekly SQL jobs and exported them to their own datasets. These batch jobs eliminated
the need for compiling programs individually; they also compiled faster and used a small amount of system resources.
Departmental Training - Instructed weekly classroom-training sessions in SQL. Helped team members learn to code efficiently and learn to join a multitude of tables using a variety of different join commands such as inner and outer joins. Also instructed users how use the (RDBMS).
Database Development - Produced several mainframe SQL jobs that queried eligibility data from 15 tables. Created a reconciliation database in MS Access that connected to the mainframe via ODBC (open database connectivity) to pull the eligibility data and perform checks against member information and rejection reason codes to adjudicate claims.
Process Automation – Coded several Rexx Procedures to run 250+ SQL jobs and write
them to individual datasets. Created a VB 6 application that parsed each dataset into and
a formatted Word document and automatically created trend analysis graphs in Excel.
