Conducted performance evaluations and recommendations for personal.
- Performed IPl\'s and resolved eqc checks, i/o errors, recoveries from backups as well as execute utilities to assemble information on read/write errors for each drive and their thresholds.
- Restart jobs (using scheduling packages such as CA7/11 & Control-M/R, as well as without these products); apply the appropriate JCL overrides in addition to Coordinate and document all application/system abends, restarts and resolutions with necessary analysts.
Project Manager/Technical lead & Automation for CA7/11 to Control-M/R Project:
- This involved the design of the conversion; product testing, network testing (FTP\'S, NDM\'S) regression testing (including unit, integration, functional & system testing) as well as implementing (phase application converting). This ensured products and applications functioned as desired for the diversified groups: Production Support,
- Applications programming, operations staff and customers as well. Performed restructuring of scripts for FTP\'s and NDM(IE: Dataset Triggering) to interface with the CMEM(Control-M Event Manager).
- On these projects and others provided call center and on call support in addition to call center training at the various Tier levels required.
- In performing conversion(s) like the one above, the knowledge & utilization of NDM scripts; languages such as quikjob3, Eztrieve Plus, JCL and Cobol as well as extensive employment of the IBM Utilities (including VSAM Administrative utilities) are essential to the completion of these projects.
- Also provided technical assistance (Advise on correct combinations of utilities to use for access methods being utilized-PDS, VSAM, PS, etc) in the conversion from CA/1 to Control-T tape management systems.
Team lead/technical lead for Exception-Processing Project:
- The goal to eliminate as much as 90% of all batch processing abends/restarts and manual interventions that Operations and Production Support have to contend with. This was accomplished by creating automated processes in addition to producing solution(s) beginning at the original source. IE: (application program(s), original creation of data, etc).
- In many cases our UNIX systems basic scheduling abilities were not as feature laden (at that time) as that of the Mainframe scheduling packages IE: (CA7/11 & Control M/R). When the scheduling criteria recommended; utilized the Mainframe scheduling package(s) features (Cmem’s ‘on job arrival’, combined with NDM’S ‘Runjob’, instead of ‘Runtask’) to satisfy these needs and schedule the UNIX applications based on the criteria specified. This resulted in eliminating the need to purchase scheduling packages/agents for the UNIX systems. This combination was also used to supersede that of the Runtask command (being used with the original mainframe product) and eliminate additional software rewrites from the vendor, as well as additional resources (i.e. CPU, I/O) being used.
- In the exception monitoring project, created processes(utilizing Control-M/R features -auto edit variables-) eliminating as much as 800 to 1000 abend/restarts a month of auto-triggered jobs(via FTP & NDM) attempting to process files for incorrect dates.
- Generated process for Payroll applications that would capture errors, page the client, (to correct input, then re-submit job), and end this job normally. This eliminated several hundred abends, manual interventions, and communications to payroll for the production support department.
