Overview of IT Experience

As the senior technician for Impressions Confidential,I have worked in Information Technology, to support businesses and individuals in Washington county, Iowa since 1999. I studied computer hardware, server and workstation operating systems, application software, and methods of problem resolution intensively for 2 years with the founder of Impressions Custom Computers, Inc.; and then replaced him as Lead Technician. In that capacity I have accumulated extensive experience in designing, implementing, repairing, and protecting computer networks, servers, and workstations, personal computers, applications software, and data. I have over ten years experience with solving computer problems while saving data and setup status, and I understand the importance of keeping people up and working in the face of computer crises.
Technical Skills and Expertise

Hardware:

I daily repair various models of desktop and laptop computers from all major vendors. I routinely recover data from damaged and dying hard drives . I am experienced in issues of hardware incompatibility; and choosing components for server and workstation builds. I have been designing and building servers and workstations since 1999. I am familiar with most common networking hardware: routers, switches, and firewalls; and have worked with Cisco, Fortinet, Sonicwall, and Netgear firewalls, routers, and switches, including setup of VPN tunnels, subnetting, and command line setup. I am experienced with organizing and building wiring closets and patch panels and I do all levels of custom lan cabling.

Operating Systems:

I am very experienced with Microsoft Windows Servers of multiple generations, from NT to 2008 r2. I have over 9 years experience designing, building, setting up, and installing, and supporting Microsoft Servers, including Server NT, 2000, 2003, and 2008 r1 and r2. I have also designed and setup each generation of Microsoft Small Business Server. I routinely setup and support Microsoft Exchange Server, Sql Server, and IIS server. I have worked daily with each generation of Microsoft Workstation Operating Systems since Windows 3.1; including: Windows 95,Windows 98, Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and now Windows 7. Beyond Microsoft systems, I’ve owned, used, and supported Apple 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6, including setup and troubleshooting. I have setup and maintained hybrid Apple OSX and XP systems; and Apple computers inWindows networks. I have setup and used most generations of Knoppix, Ubuntu and Suse Linux workstation operating systems and Ubuntu Linux Server.

Protocols:

I am very familiar with tcp/ip networking, highspeed internet setup and troubleshooting, cable and dsl modems, routing, firewalls, as well as switching and local area networking.

Certifications:

I am A+, Network + certified; I will test for additional certifications, if needed or desired.

Software:

I have setup and supported: each Microsoft Office version since Office 1997. I have designed and used Microsoft Access Databases. I am very familiar with Open Office, Norton Ghost, all major antivirus software products, Westlaw, Iowacode, Tabs, Hotdocs, Iowadocs, Thorpeforms, Lacerte, specialized HUD forms, Quicken, Quickbooks, Peachtree Accounting, Winfiler, Medrec, Dextrocity suite, various emergency Paging software and Medical alert servers, Investment and Market softwares, Financial software, Winops, Specialized banking software , Microsoft Great Plains.
