SENIOR TECHNICAL SPECIALIST
Participated in a major team effort to build an Internet Securities Trading system. The project
entailed initiation of an order by a client on the Internet via a Web Browser for execution on the
back-end Mainframe Trading Systems / National Stock Exchanges. The project used DB2
primarily for its database on the Mainframe with some auxiliary VSAM files and DB2/6000 on
the Servers (converted from Oracle RDBMS).
User trading profiles and registration were handled by CICS foreground tasks. CICS background tasks ran
continuously communicating with other subsystems to make it all happen. IBM MQ middleware was used
to asynchronously transfer order/trade data between the Mainframe and the Servers. Supporting Batch
jobs and Unix scripts used NDM and FTP to download and upload data.
Participated in the modification, enhancement and maintenance of the Financial Management
Account (FMA) product as follows :
-- Designed and developed CICS on-line system to allow global branch offices to respond to
clients\' potential bounce checks (PBC); System addressed branch security issues limiting
access to user\'s domain; System functions included browse checks, update checks with
decision to pay or bounce, legend to explain pay / bounce codes, branch manager sign-off on
checks in his domain, and view signoffs to see which branches signed off; Assisted in design of
master files and batch processing of on-line activities for transmission to client banks;
Implemented initial pilot program and incremental rollout of system; Trained back office
managers and staff in using new system as well as provided direct technical support to branch
offices; Enhanced system to give specific branch personnel access to other branches’ clients
and allow regional officers to access clients in all branches within region; (SQL, DB2,VSAM)
-- Modified CICS on-line application for free IRA coupon assignment to provide global branch
office security check; branch personnel only allowed to view/update accounts as dictated by
corporate security; (SQL, DB2, VSAM)
-- Designed and developed the CICS on-line / batch annual fee rebates system to give clients full,
partial or pro-rated rebates; On-line functions included rebate issue, inquire on a rebate, and
browse today’s and past rebates; Batch functions included crediting clients’ positions, updating
history file with today’s rebates and producing daily reports for operations staff;
-- Rewrote the branch wires notification system for account maintenance to send wires for new
basic accounts and upgrade / downgrade of existing accounts based on acquisition or loss of
features such as AFT, gold card, checking, ATM, PCA status;
-- Designed and developed CICS on-line system for debit mastercard enabling back office
operations staff to open new accounts, view account profile, cancel and reinstate accounts, view
secondary cards of an account, delete cards, change card imprint, force-emboss card, view
pending transactions, and view transaction history; Assisted in design of master files and batch
processing of maintenance to and from card vendor for both monetary and non-monetary items;
Converted existing database of ATM, Amex and Visa cardholders to new debit card for initial
pilot program and incremental rollout of product; Trained back office managers and staff in
using new system; Enhanced system to issue emergency cards to clients when lost or stolen and
to force -emboss individual cards; (DB2, VSAM)
-- Modified / enhanced several aspects of the CICS on-line / Batch gold card processing for merge
with another brokerage firm and split-off of another; (DB2, VSAM)
-- Using Micro-Focus Cobol developed the CICS on-line Check order history system giving
operations the ability to view checks ordered for clients via the on-line or interactive voice
response systems by date range and/or FMA account and/or bank account;
-- Enhanced several aspects of the CICS on-line Check and ATM systems;
-- Modified / enhanced several aspects of the batch systems handling incoming and outgoing
transmissions of fees, charges and maintenance data for AMEX and VISA gold cards as well as
various bank-related data for clients’ checks;
-- Modified FMA profile screen to allow only branch personnel to cancel an account using
specific codes;
-- Wrote batch and CICS on-line programs for PCA re-qualification / rollout; (DB2, VSAM)

update, delete, and inquire on a cancel code to be subsequently interrogated whenever an FMA
account or gold card is to be canceled;
